Please join Central Suffolk Paws, LI-DOG, Boy Scout Troop 229, elected officials from the Town of Brookhaven, fellow dog owners and their dogs for the
Grand Opening of the Selden Dog Park on Boyle Road! The new Off-Leash Dog Park, which is approximately 57,000 square feet, is fully fenced and is divided into large dog and small dog areas (25 pounds and under). Each section has plenty of shade, benches and poop stations. There will be raffles and goody bags for the first 75 attendees along with giveaways and refreshments and The Town of Brookhaven's Animal Shelter will be bringing adoptable dogs in need of loving homes. Lisa Mongiello of Innovative Pet Care, a NYS licensed Veterinarian Technician will be on hand for a brief Pet First Aid demonstration. We are also an agility sampler demonstration at 2:30. They will show you a small taste of what you could do with your dog. The dog park is free for the Town of Brookhaven resident's use, but on Saturday, we're inviting all our fellow dog owners to celebrate the opening of this beautiful new park! Please show your appreciation for this park by bringing a donation for the homeless pets. Rescues are always in need of dog and cat food, blankets, towels, cat litter and toys. Annual Bowl-A-Thon is a fun event for the entire family. It's good exercise and it benefits a good cause. The goal is to raise funds for the care of abandoned, neglected and abused dogs and cats. There will be an open cash bar, plus an opportunity to win great raffle prizes. FFOLI is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue group. There is no paid staff. Monies raised will enable FFOLI to provide quality medical attention and rehabilitation for the dogs and cats in their care. We HIGHLY recommend reserving your spot in advance, this will also allow us to notify the venue of how many lanes will be needed. Canine experience is a multiclub, multisport event that introduces and welcomes owners of newly AKC-registered puppies to educate them about the sport of dogs. The daylong event features educational presentations and provides an opportunity for potential owners to be mentored by experienced exhibitors and club members before an afternoon match, during which new exhibitors and future fanciers practice their newly learned skills. Rescued, rehabilitated and being released by the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation. This is the first release of a sea turtle for the season. Long Island Pet Professionals sets sail for a summer Boat Cruise and Cocktail Party Networking event being held for area pet professionals. The exclusive event will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 6pm and the boat sets sail at 6pm, guests are asked to be there by 5:45pm, and is leaving from Riverhead, NY behind the Long Island Aquarium. The event will include plenty of networking for pet professionals to mingle and get to know each other better. A Naturalist on board; A stop at the preserve island; wine, beer, bottled water, and lite cocktail nibblers too; and a swag bag for each attendee of the event as a thank you for attending!
