Pet Events for July 9 - July 16, 2014

This week's Pet Events Newsletter is brought to you by
Bow Meow Raw's New Book 'Home Cooking for Your Dog!'

Home Cooking for Your Dog is the first holistic cookbook for dogs to include recipes for cooked meals, treats, and the raw food diet,

a big trend in the pet industry.

User-friendly, chop-licking recipes like Fido's Fishcakes, Potluck Polenta, and Peanut Butter and Coconut Cakes call for healthy ingredients you can find in your local grocery store (or may already have at home) to create balanced, nutritious meals for a healthier, happier dog.

Headnotes provide nutrition information, cooking tips, and anecdotes from the author, Christine M. Filardi, about her own four dogs to help readers transition their dogs to a homemade diet. Illustrated with a combination of irresistible color photographs of dogs and humorous line art, the book is a must-have for dog owners everywhere. A portion of the proceeds will support animal rescue.

Adoption Corner!

Introducing Contessa, Benny,  Jack & Jill!

Contessa, #7926, is a 5+yr old Lab/ AmStaff mix. She's been the front office dog for more than 6 months, at the shelter since October 2012, and sadly still no takers. Found as stray who had lots of babies, she loves people, select dog friends, but not cats or small dogs. Contessa is housebroken, good on leash, crates herself, knows commands and is not destructive...after her hard start in life...please give her the love and care she so deserves. She will be your grateful forever friend.

Benny #8834 is a great big lug: a 2 1/2 yr American Pitbull who has sadly spent more than half his life @ the shelter after being saved from a rough life on the streets. Police brought him in underweight and with many scars on his face & body. Benny is a staff favorite, and quite the ladies man - he also prefers female canine companions as a rule. Benny needs a safe, secure and compassionate forever home with a savvy dog handler. He has a grin that could make anyone's day, and he should be smiling always.

Jack # 5153 is a 6yr old M/N Russian Blue mix. His owner died and no one else could take care him, his feline housemate Jill or his canine sibling Chester. Chester was adopted but Jack & Jill still sit and wait... They do not belong in a shelter having known a loving home. He is very social, easy going, playful, loves to be pet, and doesn't mind being picked up. Jack would be great with other cats, young children or even a first-time adopter. He probably wouldn't even mind a well behaved dog!
