Worship with Us!

Happy Father's Day!

Take time to honor the amazing Dads in your life. We thank the Fathers who take time to be there for their children: to play baseball, tea parties, soccer, dress-up, hockey, Barbie dolls, bandage our scratches, give hugs and kisses, listening to our concerns, giving advice.

Thank you Father's for making a difference in our lives!

WORSHIP NEWS

We Bid Adieu to Our Beloved Pastor Carl

Many individuals may say that Pastor Carl Johnson came to Immanuel to simply fill in while we waited for our interim pastors to arrive. Instead, Pastor Carl was called by God to embrace our staff, church council, and congregation as we walk through grief, begin to heal and move forward as a church. In his loving way, Pastor Carl listened to our concerns, lifted us up, supported our actions and reminded us that we are strong children of God. We thank him for his amazing courage to facilitate our first steps of this transition. We are so blessed to have had Pastor Carl with us, even it was for a short time. Dear One, you have left a huge impression on our hearts.
Thank you for shining the light of God's love on us all!

Farewell and God Be With You

Thank you for the opportunity to serve. It has been a gift for this old codger to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with you these past seven weeks! You have been an inspiration to me as you proclaim the Word of God in Lake Geneva. Your ministries just keep reaching so many in need.

The staff at Immanuel, the Church Council, members and friends of Immanuel are gifted with the Holy Spirit and deeply involved in God's work. I leave with confidence and share God's blessing as your hands and hearts move into the future.
Pastor Carl

Warm Welcome to Pastor Martha Butzier and Pastor Richard Collier

Immanuel extends a warm welcome to Pastor Martha Butzier who arrives on June 6th and to Pastor Richard Collier who joins us on June 15th. We are incredibly thankful for their spiritual leadership during this transition and grateful for their dedication to help us through this call process.

Introducing Pastor Martha Butzier:

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I am looking forward to being with you at Immanuel come the first week of June! In preparation for our working together, it might help if you to know a bit more about my background.
I am a second career pastor and life-long Lutheran. I worked as a nurse for many years in a variety of specialties and in different parts of the country. Being a nurse and being a pastor has worked well for me. Both professions provide me with the privilege of walking with people through the joys and challenges of being human. Both have allowed me to hone the skills of deep attentive listening and keen observation needed to understand another person's situation or point of view.
My nursing degree is from the University of Iowa, and my Masters of Divinity is from Wartburg Seminary. I served in a two-point call in Cassville and Bagley, Wisconsin right out of seminary and was there for just over four years. During that time, my youngest son, then in high school, developed some health problems. When he graduated, I took a leave from call so that I could be with him if his health problems required my assistance. This took us both to Ann Arbor, Michigan where I reentered the nursing field.   After a few years, the Spirit was prodding and pushing me back into ministry. I accepted a part-time call to do interim ministry with a small, somewhat rural congregation. From there I was called to serve full-time in an interim call working with two congregations as one merged into the other, and both congregations grieved the loss of their pastors. Most recently, I served as interim for a third congregation as they went through the call process. With God's nudging, I realized that interim ministry is a good fit for me, so I recently completed training to become an intentional interim pastor.
Maybe you have noticed how God's call rarely seems to go in a straight line. I have always had hills to climb and slopes to cruise down. Mix in the occasional detour like going to seminary and life gets really interesting. Immanuel is on one of those side trips or detours right now. Those unexpected, unplanned for diversions hold within them tremendous possibilities. In these moments, often accompanied by potholes of uncertainty, I have seen the grace of God giving me not what I wanted, but what I needed. The same is true for the congregations I have served. God is at work now doing something new. We are people of the resurrection who live in the everlasting promise of new beginnings. It is my privilege to walk with you on this stage of the journey.
I am praying for our time together, to see the presence of Christ in our midst.
Peace to all of you, Pastor Martha Butzier

Introducing Pastor Rich Collier

Rev. Richard Collier will be our Interim Pastor while we find our bearings and prepare to search for a new Pastor to Call.

Pastor Collier was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. He is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Pastor Collier has been Called to Intentional Interim Ministry in the South Central Synod of Wisconsin.

Pastor Collier served under Call in North Dakota and in Wisconsin before taking on the challenge of Interim Ministry. He has served as an interim pastor for 22 years in congregations all over our Synod and beyond.   He comes to us from an assignment as Interim Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Deforest.

Pastor Collier makes his home in Mayville, WI, where he has lived for 15 years. He is a widower, and his daughter Emily and husband Nate live in Fond Du Lac.

Office hours for Pastor Collier will be Monday thru Thursday. He can also be reached at other times through the church office, or by calling his cell phone at 1-920-904-4818.

Connect - New Members Meeting

The goal of this new ministry is to pair current members with our new members for a period of time to help them integrate into our awesome church community of believers.  We will determine the best way to assimilate new and seasoned members, what types of activities the connected groups could be involved in such as small groups, outreach ministries, children's activities, etc.  We will be looking for volunteers after the ministry is activated that will work with new member categories that involve individuals, couples, families.  Please prayerfully consider joining the planning group and/or being a part of the "connect new members team".  Meet us at church on the 3rd or call Evie Schulz for additional information on this exciting opportunity!

O Negative Blood Needed

Dear Lifesaving Partner, First and foremost, I want to thank you for sponsoring blood drives with Bloodcenter of Wisconsin. Your commitment to engaging the 800 donors our hospitals need daily to meet transfusion needs, helps us maintain a dependable blood supply for the patients we serve.
Since last week we have seen a downturn in blood donors, which has significantly impacted the O Negative blood inventory.  BloodCenter of Wisconsin has been maintaining a less than one day supply of O Negative blood-our goal is to have a minimum of a 3 day supply.
Please reach out to your known O Negative donors and ask them to make an appointment at your upcoming blood drive if they have not yet.  If there are prospective donors that do not know their blood type, ask them to sign-up as well.  They may be O Negative!
E-mail or call me directly at (618) 340-1788 and let me know how I can help support your efforts.  Again, thank you for your dedication to the community blood program.  You truly are everyday heroes and make a significant impact in other peoples' lives!

Side By Side is a collaborative ministry between area churches and civic groups.

Journey Through Grief Group Support Group

A new Journey Through Grief group support class is being planned for this summer.  This group will be facilitated by Evie Schulz who is a certified bereavement facilitator with pastoral assistance.  The group meets for eight weeks at the option of weekly or bi weekly meetings here at Immanuel.  Many congregational members have experienced the death of a loved one or close friend recently.  If you have a relative or friend who could benefit from this class, they are also welcome. Members of Immanuel will be given first priority. This is an excellent opportunity to journey this difficult path with others experiencing losses with a Christian emphasis.  A minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants are needed to offer the group.  A small donation will be requested to cover the costs of books and materials. Please contact Evie at the church or via her cell 262-203-0463 if you are interested.

THANKS

+ Thank you to all of our Sunday School teachers, children, and their families for helping to enable us to show off their beautiful singing voices.  They did an amazing job and brought so much joy to our hearts!  Another special thank you goes out to Kelly and Adam for all the amazing work they've done with our children over the year.  We are so very blessed to have them use their musical talents to teach our children!  Thanks to all for a very beautiful, blessed morning! Sarah Beauregard

+ I am absolutely blown away by the amazing congregation here at Immanuel.  It was evident that so many people worked so hard on the baked goods they donated out of the goodness of their hearts.  And that table was hopping yesterday!  There were not many leftovers!  Thank you to all that made donations - whether it be monetary or a baked good! Together we raised $617.99 for our Vacation Bible Camp.  That is phenomenal.  The family at Immanuel is absolutely incredible - thank you to all!! Sarah Beauregard

+ Thanks to the Bells of Immanuel and director Ellen Hanson for their special bell addition on Pentecost Sunday.

+ A special thank you to Sara Wahlstedt for all she does to create a beautiful setting for our church, especially the special flowers for Mother's Day, altar decorations and the words on the altar, and taking care of plants in the church. She also takes pictures for special events and helps to create the wonderful quilts and labels for each individual quilts.

+ Many thanks to Mike Brooks for cutting our church lawn faithfully. We appreciate your continued efforts to make the church look beautiful.
