All Saints Sunday - November 1st
All Saints Sunday is November 1st when we remember our loved ones who died to Christ in the past year. A special litany will be part of each service, with a candle lit on the altar rail for each person being remembered. Please call the office at 248-4211 with the name of the person we are remembering, your name, and which service you want their name to be read. The candle with their name on it is yours to take at the end of the service.
Giving in Gratitude - Commitment Sunday, November 15th
The theme for our fall stewardship emphasis is Giving in Gratitude. The key scripture comes from Psalm 100. "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Biblical stewardship is not about paying Immanuel's bills or feeling obligated to support the church financially. Rather, we are mindful of God's generosity to us and we want to respond out of thankfulness. God has given us a wonderful creation, our lives, and the gift of a Savior. When we see how those blessings are overflowing, we are eager to show our gratitude by sharing our time, our talents, and our financial resources for the sake of Christ's mission.
Sunday, November 15, 2015, is Commitment Sunday. Prior to that weekend, you will receive a Pledge Card and Time and Talent form for 2016. Please prayerfully consider how you might respond with gratitude in the coming year, and bring your completed forms to worship. They will be received as part of our offering.
Congregational Meeting - Sunday, November 15th
A congregational meeting will be held after each worship service on November 15th to adopt amendments to the model constitution. These amendments were mailed to all members and reflect changes made by the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in 2013. Immanuel's church council recommends the adoption of these provisions so that our constitution will conform to the ELCA. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
Pastor Appreciation
October was Pastor Appreciation month! We thank God for the fabulous, inspirational leadership of Pastor Mary Ann and Mark! It's easy to take them for granted, not noticing the amount of work that goes into their everyday ministry. They don't "just" prepare sermons and lead worship services-they visit the sick, counsel the struggling, take the lead point on countless church ministries, manage a staff, and tend to the countless little details that keep Immanuel running smoothly. Pastors Mary Ann and Mark: We want you to know that we appreciate you; your tireless service for the Lord is reflected in all you do. So we pray that you will know how special you are to us, and continue to carry on the work of God, serving in His love.
Christmas Cantata
Christmas Cantata rehearsals have started and are Wednesdays nights at 6:45PM downstairs in the music room and we would LOVE to include you ALL! Music is a vital ministry that belongs to ALL people of God no matter how "talented" you think you are. It is a chance to lift your hearts and voices to Him, draw closer to Him, celebrate the season together, and align your heart with the true reason for the season. The music will ground and anchor you with the Christmas message of love, hope, and redemption-the heart of the Christmas story and the heartbeat of a loving God. Childcare will be available throughout the entire process, including Wednesday rehearsals, Dress Rehearsal, day of presentation, for the instrumentalists, etc. The glorious presentation will be Sunday, December 20th at all three services!
Bells of Immanuel: Rehearse Sundays, 9:15-10:15 AM
Get those arms swinging and ringing! The Bells are in need of more ringers. Rehearsals are on Sundays in the music room from in the lower level from 9:15AM-10:15AM. No musical training is necessary, TRULY! You just need to be responsible for one or two bells. Director Ellen Hanson leads the group-she is a God-send-and she will highlight your parts. Consider joining this ministry that currently has 4 generations! Contact Ellen at ellen.hanson@aurora.org
Youth Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 5:30 PM
The YPT rehearsals have begun and is open to ALL teens 6th-12th grade! The teens have a blast as they learn vibrant new Christian music to inspire their generation! Both vocalists and instrumentalists are needed! Newcomers are welcome!
The team leads weekly confirmation classes in song on Wednesday nights immediately following rehearsal at 6:30PM and will present Sunday morning music occasionally. Contact John Ivan for more information at music@immanuellg.org
Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 8:00 PM
Praise Team rehearses at 8:00PM on Wednesdays. The Praise Team vibrantly leads contemporary worship songs each week at 9:45 & 11:07. The group also helps lead special services throughout the year. Attendance at rehearsals is required. Contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org if you are interested in participating.
Media Specialists
The media team utilizes modern technology during every worship service. We are so grateful for their incredible devotion and humble hearts. Positions include running the computer, managing the sound board, and operating live video. We are always inviting newcomers to learn the new system. Contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org if you are feeling techy.
Ear Piece During Worship
If you want an ear piece to enhance your worship experience, stop at the sound desk at the back the church. This new system works far better than a hearing aid, as it brings the sound straight to your ear - with no background noise! You can control the volume with the dial on your unit.
Welcome Center Volunteers
Do you like to meet people? We are looking for some fun people to be on the Welcoming Team. They will set up coffee and water in the Welcome Center and then greet and help connect visitors to members between services. Contact Edith Draper at 248-1861 with any questions.
Worship Schedule Sign-up
You can sign-up for helping lead worship by going to the Immanuel website www.Immanuellakegeneva.org Click on "Worship Sign Up" and choose the month and service you would like to help. You will see highlighted in yellow the positions that need to be filled. Click in the box or by the number, and type your name. When you exit, it automatically saves your name in that spot. Hymnals & Bibles
Please help yourself to a hymnal or Bible at the entrance of the worship space if you like to use one.
Memory Quilts
Barb Kwiatkowski has generously offered to make a memory quilt for the spouse of members of Immanuel whose partner dies to Christ. Quilts will be made out of fabric from favorite clothes of the deceased and may also include a photo. If you would like to be part of this very moving new quilt ministry, call Barb at 262-215-9614.
Coffee Hour
Beverages are available following the first service at the Welcome Center Counter in the Gathering Space. Help yourself to information about Immanuel on the counter. Our Coffee Hour follows the first service in the Fellowship Hall. Join us for treats, beverages, and conversation. It's a great way to meet new friends, and to share in fellowship with others. All are welcome!! Many thanks to those who help serve for these two ministries. If you are interested in helping, we need you!! Sign up on the Worship Card. Thanks!
Parking on Sundays and Special Services
Able bodied members are encouraged to park in the outer parking stalls or the Middle School Lot when they can, so visitors and seniors can be closer to the entrances. Many Thanks! It's a wonderful challenge to already be short on parking spaces! Praise God, who gives the growth!!

The 3 sessions will use segments of the TV Special, starting the conversation for parents and anyone working with teenagers. This is essential information for all adults! It is based on two years of extensive research, with absolutely shocking revelations about the first digital generation using social media, with all its advantages and disadvantages.
Rob Ocker, School Counselor with over 20 years of working with teens and families, and Zach Ortiz, Middle School Youth Director of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will facilitate this discussion - offering practical ideas and solutions for dealing with today's teens.
The Seminar will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 700 N. Bloomfield Road in Lake Geneva. It is open to the entire community. The evening begins with a Potluck Dinner, so participants are encouraged to bring a dish to pass. Child care will be available each evening. Join our Fellowship Hour Team(s)
Many of you have enjoyed our fellowship hour between the first and second services. Lutherans are reknown for socializing by providing coffee, wonderful treats and time set aside to get to know new members and reconnect with others. Sadly, we no longer have teams to organize and contribute to this valuable ministry on the alternating third Sunday of the month starting in 2016 (Jan/March/May/July/Sept/Nov) and on the 5th Sundays (Jan/May/July/Oct).
Please prayerfully consider coming on board...the most effective team consists of 4 members minimum. Please also be aware that we have monies set aside to reimburse the costs of coffee, juice and treats. Team members are not expected to bake treats! They can be purchased instead. Contact Evie Schulz to let her know of your interest in assisting on one of these two teams.

All Hands on Deck Update
Great news! In the past month we have received 4 new commitments for Phase 2 of our appeal to reduce our mortgage. We have not only been able to keep up with our monthly payments of $14,400.00, but we were able to make another large payment of $45,000.00 on our principal. The faster we reduce our balance, the more we will save on interest payments over the life of the loan. That translates into more money for ministry. Thanks to all who have been so generous with your faithful stewardship. If you have not yet made a pledge to the ALL HANDS ON DECK appeal, you may obtain a commitment form from the church office.
Electronic Giving
Throughout the year, if you can't make it to church we encourage you to automate your regular donations. Immanuel relies on the consistent financial support of the congregation and electronic giving offers an easy way to give on a recurring basis. Visit www.Immanuellakegeneva.org or contact the church office for more information. We have authorization forms in the church office. We thank you for your continued support!
Free Smoke Detectors
The Lake Geneva Fire Department is committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens in this area. A working smoke detector is the most important measure you can take to prevent injury or death in the event of a fire. The fire department if offering to install smoke detectors, free of charge, for any resident in Lake Geneva. Call 248-7228 to request a smoke detector. Check with Pastor Mark if you have questions.
