Immanuel Spring Clean-Up
Love to be outside? On Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. we are asking for volunteers to help clean up our landscaping at Immanuel. Please bring gloves, rakes and any other tools that will make the job easier. Thank you!
Presentation by Dr. Barb Hedges-Goettl
Dr. Barb Hedges-Goettl is a Presbyterian Pastor. She is also an active participant at Immanuel along with her husband, Dr. Len Hedges-Goettl. She has preached at Immanuel, and both she and Len have been active participants in our music ministries. Barb is a candidate for a new position at Princeton University as Professor of Preaching and Liturgics. Barb has been invited to present a lecture at Princeton on "The Nature of Worship, and the Role of the Body of Christ in Worship."
As part of her preparation, Barb would like to give her lecture at Immanuel on Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 PM in the worship space. She is hopeful that those in attendance will offer her feedback on the lecture as well. It's a wonderful opportunity for those who attend to be a visible support to Barb in the process, as well as to offer their insights on the greatest strengths in her presentation, and any areas that may need additional clarification. Your attendance will be a gift to Barb, just as her words will bless and stretch us in our understandings of the treasure of corporate worship.
Please consider this your personal invitation to attend, and continue to hold Dr. Barb in prayer as she makes preparations for such a momentous opportunity in her calling to serve Christ's Church.
Love and Blessings - Pastor Mary Ann
Immanuel Softball Team Wanted
A few members of our Immanuel staff have expressed interest in starting a coed softball team this summer.
We will need 18 players to form an official team. Games are for fun so all skill levels are welcome. Games will run on Sundays and Mondays (rotating) at 7pm throughout the summer at Duck Pond Field (Fontana). Cost to play is $17 for the entire season. If interested please contact Zach Ortiz at (815)519-5167 or middleschool@immanuellg.org as soon as possible
New Staff Member
We welcome Michael Ruby to our Immanuel Staff. Michael is our new custodian. Be sure to introduce yourself when you see him.
We thank Ed Domalik for his service here at Immanuel over the last 2 years and wish him many blessings at his new job at McDonald's.
Volunteer Pastoral Associate
The church Council and Pastors are thrilled to welcome newly retired ELCA Pastor, Herb Priester, as a Volunteer Pastoral Associate at Immanuel!
Pastor Herb spent the first half of his ministry as a Catholic priest and was captivated by our Lutheran Theology of being "justified by grace, through our faith in Jesus Christ. Herb attended one of our Lutheran seminaries, was ordained and served as a pastor in the ELCA until his retirement last summer.
Pastor Herb is a missional guy which makes him a perfect fit with our congregation. He launched an ELCA Mission Church and served as pastor in several other churches. He is married to Ann, the love of his life and she is a gifted musician! They have been a ministry team throughout their marriage! We are so excited to welcome them to Immanuel.
Pastor Herb will serve in a variety of ways, depending on needs in the congregation and his availability. He will do some visitation with our home bound members and those in nursing homes. Herb also plans to make hospital calls when the need arises. We will see Herb bless our worship - celebrating the Sacrament, serving as an assisting minister, preaching and in whatever ways are needed. He will be available to do weddings and funerals as well.
It is an incredible gift to have Herb be so willing to engage in ministry as Immanuel as a volunteer. His exuberance, love for people and genuine desire to serve Christ's Church is so moving. Please join us in welcoming Pastor Herb to join our ministry team!

Youth Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 5:30 PM
The Youth Praise Team rehearses Wednesday nights at 5:30PM in the music room downstairs. Newcomers are welcome, and will have a blast with this group! The YPT is open to ALL teens 5th-12th grade. Parents, encourage your child to come an hour before confirmation class to lift their voices in praise. Both vocalists and instrumentalists are needed! The ensemble leads weekly confirmation group in song at 6:30PM (immediately following rehearsal) and are preparing to sing for the church. Contact John Ivan for more information at music@immanuellg.org
Classical Service Choir Rehearsals, Wednesdays, 8:00PM
The early service choral ensemble currently meets Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Due to previous commitments, rehearsals on April 22nd and April 29th will remain at 8:00PM. However, we are open to the option of rehearsing at 6:30PM to accommodate your needs. Kathy and I are also available after the first service (downstairs) to rehearse small ensembles or soloists interested in presenting their gifts. Contact Amberleigh at mmmberleigh@yahoo.com for info or to schedule special music. Thanks -Amberleigh
Combined Contemporary Choir: Rehearses Wednesdays, 7:15PM
Following an extraordinary Easter cantata and majestic Christmas cantata, we now have time to implement our vision from last fall and establish a combined contemporary choir. The hope is to provide ALL vocalists, regardless of musical training, a means to express and connect with God through music. Since members will have the benefit of outside rehearsal time, the ensemble will offer up more difficult and complex music praises on behalf of the congregation that would otherwise not be possible. ALL musicians are encouraged to join-classic service members, youth, praise team members, contemporary singers, and community friends. Rehearsal times are scheduled consecutively so members can participate in both the Classic Service choir/Praise Team and this larger combined choir. Contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org or 2626202349 for more information.
Bells of Immanuel: Rehearse Sundays, 9:15-10:15 AM
The Bells rehearse Sundays, 9:15-10:15 a.m. downstairs in the music room! They will be ringing June 7th at all three services together with the Classic Service choir. Director Ellen Hanson will show you how to ring, no musical training is necessary. If you can't commit to every Sunday, talk to Ellen about being a bell substitute ringer! Contact Ellen Hanson if you are interested or just show up for rehearsal. She can be reached at: ellen.hanson@aurora.org or 262-210-1001.
Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 8:00 PM
The Praise Team rehearses on Wednesday's at 8:00PM. Their spectacular leadership each Sunday morning is outstanding. They are learning new contemporary music to keep worship fresh and innovative. Both the vocalists and instrumentalists work hard to enhance our music, grow deeper in faith, and provide fabulous leadership that inspires worship! If you are interested in joining the team, contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org or 262-620-2349 for details.
Media Specialists
The media team utilizes modern technology during every worship service. Positions include running the computer, managing the sound board, and operating live video. We are continually inviting newcomers to learn the new system. If you are techy and interested in contributing your skills contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org so we can get you involved!
