Ash Wednesday:

The Season of Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, February 18th at 6:30 PM in the worship space.  This very moving service includes the "Imposition of Ashes" on the forehead of each worshiper, reminding us that our bodies on this side of heaven are temporary.  Two things are certain:  we will all die.  But the ashes are traced in the sign of the cross - reminding us of the certainty of Christ's promise of eternal life for all who believe in him.  There will be special music, and Holy Communion will also be celebrated.  Come and begin the season of Lent in the arms of Jesus and his promises.

The Season of Lent:

The Season of Lent spans the 40 days leading up to Easter, excluding Sundays - because every Sunday is considered a "little Easter!  It is a more reflective time in the church year, modeled after the forty days Jesus spent in the desert being tempted by the devil.  Like our Savior, we choose to lay aside those practices that lead us into temptation.  Instead, we put on the "full armor of God" - through study of God's Word at home and in Small Group Bible Studies, as well as through prayer, generosity, and serving others in Christ's name.

Easter Cantata Rehearsals, Wednesdays, 6:45PM

Rehearsals for the Easter cantata has begun and ALL are invited to participate! We are preparing an amazing presentation that proclaims the powerful Easter Gospel through music and narration. Those who don't read music are welcome and able to learn the music with rehearsal tracks. New faces are always refreshing-truly ALL are invited! The cantata will be presented on Easter (April 5th) at all three services. An important dress rehearsal is Saturday April 4th from 10:00AM-12:00N. Weekly rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:45PM (or immediately following Lenten services when appropriate). There will be a few Sunday rehearsals (following the 3rd service) to accommodate folks who can't attend Wednesdays. We need both vocalists and instrumentalists. Contact John Ivan for more information via email: , cell phone: 262-620-2349, or at church! The great gift of Easter is hope-Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God, in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love, which nothing can shake.

Youth Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 5:30 PM

The Christian faith is not boring, mundane, or safe! Read the following quote that will give you a picture of where God wants to take you:

Quit living as if the purposes of life is to arrive safely at death! Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention.

Keep asking questions, making mistakes, and seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution.

Stop repeating the past, and start creating the future. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can.

Don't let what's wrong keep you from worshipping what's right with God. Blaze new trails. Don't let fear dictate your decisions.

Quit holding back. Push all of your chips to the middle of the table. It's time to ante up all of your faith.

Liver Donor Needed

From Evie and Dennis Schulz:

Dear Pastors, We just received word that a friend of ours and fellow congregant at Sugar Creek is in dire need of a human donor liver transplant. Bob has leas a life of service to others vocationally and is a man of strong faith. Sadly, he has been battling end stage liver disease for about 9 years while on a waiting list for a cadaver liver. He just learned that he now has a rare liver cancer as well and his time is limited; he has been placed on the priority list but was also told he was a candidate for a live donor. In short, the live donor gives a part of his/her healthy liver to Bob. The donors liver rejuvenates in a surprisingly short time. Insurance will pay all the costs for the donor. Bob needs someone with an O positive match, between the ages of 18-55. We are wondering if there is someone in our caring congregation who might be moved to give the hope of life back to Bob. Bob has given his permission to share this. If you are interested, please Evie Schulz at 262-728-7002.

+ A big thank you to the Pitcher Family for their donation of the wonderful jukebox and pinball machine to The Vibe program! Both items will add another dimension to our Middle School experience.

+ Dear Friends, I want to thank you for your continued prayers for my best friend, Monika Swing. Since March of 2012 she has been battling cancer. Chemo, surgical, scans, plus her determination to beat this and her faith brought her far. By the fall, no traditional treatment would even be considered so trial treatments were offered. They made her sick until it was discovered in January that the tumors had taken over her colon and nothing could be done. She went into a hospice home January 19th where meds for pain automatically went into her body. She was comfortable. Thursday, January 22nd, her granddaughter, Jade, was baptized in her room. Monika had asked for me. On Saturday, January 24th, Mike & I got there and she smiled at us. I just stroked her arm and talked of all sorts of things as the family was with us. When I kissed her on the forehead I told her I would be back tomorrow. In her weakened voice she said "I can't believe you are here." Sunday, January 25th, she had left for her heavenly home. God made a way for Monika to see me and for me to see her. His will was done. The week before when we talked on the phone I had said if I go before you or you before me, we know where we are headed. We believe in Jesus Christ, our Savior and because he lives, we will too. She said yes! It doesn't get any better than that. In Christ's Love, Sandy Boales

+ To the amazing volunteers here at church...first of all, thank YOU!

Everyone who volunteers makes such a difference! Your willingness to serve shines brightly and makes a impact on all of us. So thank you!

Secondly, watch for new ways to sign up online to volunteer for different activities. Do we have your current email address? Email me at to give me your email address. You will then be connected to the new and innovative ways for signing up. Thank you, again, for your willingness to serve! Blessings, Cynthia Hibbard, Ministry Coordinator

+ Thank you to Tom and Jamie Walton for their donation of a bumper pool table and chairs to the youth room.  The youth will love having it!  Thank you for your generosity!

+ A big thank you to Pastors Barb and Len Hedges-Goettl for your leadership of our Sunday services on January 25th. We are so blessed to have leaders who can step in for Pastors Mary Ann and Mark when they are out of town. Also thank you for sharing your special song with us at all 3 services. The song complimented your wonderfully designed service.

+ Thank you to Joe Twist for your donation of cleaning supplies to Immanuel. We so appreciate your generosity.

+ A big thank you to Sandy Derrick for her donation of 2 cases of candy to the Vibe program. The candy is always a welcome sight to everyone.

+ Dear Friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Thank you so much for your continuous and generous donations! Your partnership helps us serve those in need in our community, who come to us to help put food on their tables and feed their families. We have seen record numbers of families come through our door last fall, November, 2014 being the highest: 287 families, with 571 adults and 352 children! We so appreciate all that you bring to help fill our shelves in this effort! Sincerely, Lake Geneva Food Pantry

+ There are not enough words to express our thanks to our friends at Immanuel for your love and support after my recent surgery. Especially Mickey's Friday morning bible study for all your love, cards, prayers, and laying on of hands. And Arlene, our precious Arlene and for organizing the meals chain - each dinner was delicious (a special thanks from Harry!) And thanks Barb for the use of your special equipment. I don't know what I would have done without it! And thank you pastors for the visit, your prayers and comfort. I know my recovery will be long and difficult, but with this special church family praying for me, all will be well. Jackie Kuehl

+ Thanks for all the greeting cards throughout the year! The poinsettia is beautiful and the tray of cookies and candy are tasty. Madgel Schluga

+ I want to thank the Carolers that came to my home and Pastor Mary Ann. Words cannot express how my family and I felt. It was like Jesus being here.

The cookie tray Carla baked was very delicious. Thank you so much. My family and I enjoyed them. The gift of cookies and fruit were very delicious. God Bless the bakers. I want to thank the lovely lady who writes all the wonderful notes she sends. They are very uplifting. God Bless and Happy New Year to everyone! Marie Hinzpeter
