Confirmation Sunday

Confirmation Sunday for our 9th graders who are affirming their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord is October 26th. Be sure to invite friends and family as you celebrate this important milestone in your faith!

Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Music Recognition Sunday October 19th

We are thrilled to announce Music Recognition Sunday on October 19th at all three services. We will celebrate the gift of music, the gift of song, the gift of worship itself, the gift of musical prayer, and will recognize our treasured musicians. You will be blessed with special music from each of our beloved ensembles-Praise Team, Youth Praise Team, Jubilate, and Bells of Immanuel-and invited to sing along to favorites. Mark your calendars and invite a friend to share God's gift of music with!

Christmas Cantata Rehearsals Begin October 15th

Rehearsals for the glorious Christmas musical celebration begin October 15th on Wednesday nights at 6:45PM downstairs in the music room. ALL are invited and encouraged to join this multi-generational ministry perfect for the entire family! You don't need to have a perfect voice, just a heart to sing! The inspirational, powerful music comprises a variety of music; both traditional and contemporary. Rehearsal CD's will be available to aid individual learning. Both vocalists and instrumentalists are needed. The cantata will be presented on December 21st at all three services! Contact John Ivan for more information.

Jubilate Singers: Rehearses Wednesday, 6:45 PM

Jubilate (Immanuel's choir for all ages and musical genres) is diligently working on special anthems for the fall. Rehearsals are open to ALL and occur Wednesday nights at 6:45PM. Rehearsal CD's are offered to help learn parts for those who can't read music well. We have a great core group that would love to welcome more voices to the team!

Youth Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 5:30 PM

The YPT is open to ALL teens 5th-12th grade! Please help us spread the word! Participants have been meeting all summer and plan to sing early this fall during worship services. Newcomers are welcome, and will have a blast with this group! Both vocalists and instrumentalists are needed!

We plan to lead weekly confirmation classes in song on Wednesday nights immediately following rehearsal at 6:30PM. Contact John Ivan for more information at johndavidivan@yahoo.com

Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays, 8:00 PM

The Praise Team continues to meet every Wednesday night for rehearsals at 8:00PM. Their spectacular leadership each Sunday morning is unparalleled. Both the vocalists and instrumentalists are working so hard to advance their music, grow deeper in faith, and provide fabulous leadership for the contemporary services! Contact John Ivan if you are interested joining the team for more info.

Bells of Immanuel: Rehearses Sundays, 9:15-10:15 AM

The Bells start rehearsals on Sunday September 7th in the music room! Thanks to a generous donation, we've added an octave of bells! This opens a huge new opportunity to welcome more ringers! Director Ellen Hanson will show you how to ring, no musical training is necessary. If you can't commit to every Sunday, talk to Ellen about being a bell substitute ringer! Contact Ellen Hanson if you are interested or just show up for rehearsal. She can be reached at: ellen.hanson@aurora.org or 262.210.1001

Ivan-McQuestion Wedding: Saturday, Sept. 27, 2:00 PM

Please join us as we unite in marriage, share tender vows, and celebrate our love on our wedding day! We can't imagine sharing our special day without our treasured church family! You are ALL invited to our wedding ceremony at 2:00PM, followed by a brief cake and punch reception in the Fellowship Hall. Thanks for your prayers, support, and encouragement! John Ivan and Nicole McQuestion

Media Specialists

The media team utilizes modern technology during every worship service. We are so grateful for their incredible devotion and humble hearts. Positions include running the computer, managing the sound board, and operating live video. We are especially inviting newcomers to learn the new system. Now is a perfect time to get involved as we will ALL be learning the new system! Contact John Ivan at johndavidivan@yahoo.com so he can inform you of the upcoming training sessions.

Coffee Hour

Beverages are available following the first service at the Welcome Center Counter in the Gathering Space. Help yourself to information about Immanuel on the counter. Our Coffee Hour follows the first service in the Fellowship Hall to the left of the worship space. Join us for treats, beverages, and conversation. It's a great way to meet new friends, and to share in fellowship with others. All are welcome!! Many thanks to those who help serve for these two ministries. If you are interested in helping, we need you!! Sign up on the Worship Card. Thanks!

Hymnals

Please help yourself to a hymnal at the entrance of the worship space if you like to follow the music for hymns.

New All-Church Small Group Bible Study: The Circle Maker

We are launching our new All-Church Small Group Bible Study the week of October 5. In "The Circle Maker," we will learn over the 4 weeks of the study how to claim God-given promises, pursue God-sized dreams, seize God-ordained opportunities, and bring glory to God! The study will help participants dream big, pray hard, and think long.

In this dynamic four session Small Group Bible Study, author Mark Batterson will encourage you to pray circles around your biggest dreams, and your greatest fears, - the kind of audacious prayers that God delights to answer. We will learn the truth that God honors bold prayers, because bold prayers honor God.

"When we feel under qualified and overwhelmed, we might be exactly where God wants us. These moments force us to pray like everything belongs on God. They also drive us to our knees. In times like this we move to a place of raw dependence on God, and raw dependence is the raw material out of which God performs his greatest miracles."

The Study Includes:

  • DVD Teaching - includes four powerful small group lessons taught by Mark Batterson, Pastor of National Community Church in Washington DC.
  • Small Group Bible Studies! Check out the schedule of Small Groups available throughout the week, at a variety of times and locations.       There is a group for YOU!

  • The Book, The Circle Maker, and Participant's Guide. Pick up your copy of both the book and the participant's guide on the table in the Gathering Space.

Sign up for the Small Group of your choice! If you are willing to facilitate a group, please let Pastor Mary Ann know as soon as possible. The pastors will preach on the theme each week of the study. Our High School students are already on board to also do this study! Don't miss it!

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP

High School Youth Group

High School Youth Group is switching gears as we are going to offer many different ways to be involved in various "treks". For instance, we'll have one trek that is a Bible Study, another trek that is the mission trip, a trek that is cookie ministry, a trek that is music, a trek that is community service and so on. We are excited for each trek as you can join us in your journey with Christ by participating in one trek, two treks or all of them. Our goal is that our high school youth are able to participate as their schedule allows and doing something they love to do with a wide variety of treks to choose from. Here are the treks for September:

Wednesdays for 7 weeks beginning September 17th - Join us at church for a time to connect with friends and be refreshed. For 7 weeks (September 17th - October 29th), we will be studying a vibrant and intriguing Bible study called "The Circle Maker". Here is how this "trek" looks:

5:30 - 6:30 p.m.   Invite your friends and come for a slice of pizza for a buck ($1). Every Wednesday we'll offer you a place to do your homework, visit with your friends, have a little bit of down time after your school activities and enjoy some pizza!

6:15 - 6:30 p.m. Our musicians are invited to join John in a quick rehearsal of a couple of songs that we'll sing to start our Bible study. If you want to just come and jam with John, he'd love it!

6:35 - 6:45 p.m. Come sing a couple of songs as we gather for our Bible study. Even if you aren't a singer, come here the amazing songs!

6:45 - 7:45 p.m. The Circle Maker Bible study (Video Clip and Small Group Discussion) We invite you to come for all or parts of the study! You will be so glad you did!

Wednesday, September 24th at 7:00 a.m. - Meet at the flag pole at Badger High School for prayer for our schools. Students and adults worldwide will meet at their school's flag pole to pray for our schools. If you attend a different school, please invite your friends to join you at your school. See you there!

Sunday, September 28th - Packer/Bear (or Bear/Packer) High School Youth Group Tailgate Party:  Come join the fun as two of our favorite teams go head to head. TV's will be set up outside so you can watch the game. Bring a chair, wear your team colors and get ready for some fun and football! Carolee and Steve will be providing the food. Game starts at noon - W3408 McDonald Road, Lake Geneva! Can't wait to see who wins!

Badger High School Anti-Bullying Training, Sept. 23, 24 & 25

We are so honored that the administration of Badger High School has asked to use our church to conduct a three-day Anti-Bullying Training Seminar for their student body, Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 23-26, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The seminar will be in the worship space.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for us to partner with the High School, and to serve students as they learn how to resist, speak out, and rise above the scourge of bullying across our country.

We also thank God for the privilege of serving the school district, because without the positive vote of the school board, we would not be on this land in our expansive new facility. Pray that God works miracles in the lives of each student in this program.

This year we will have at least 20 high school graduates, and have had 40 baptisms!! This represents a HUGE number of quilts!

If you could make one or two, or even more quilts for graduates (60x80"), or baptismal quilts (42x55") - we would jump for joy! Quilts can be made with our team on Wednesdays between 9:00 AM - Noon, or at home, or both! We can provide you with the material, or you can choose your own and be reimbursed for the cost. The team will gladly teach newcomers the art of quilting! Please call Jackie Kuehl at 203-5296, or Sara Wahlsted at 203-0782 if you are interested, or with your questions. Thanks!!!
