Wednesdays in Lent: "Body Building!"
Join us each Wednesday night in Lent for an inspiring gathering of our faith community in the Fellowship Hall!
Dinner: 5:30-6:15 - Delicious meal of homemade soups and sandwiches. Bring the whole family.
Worship: 6:15 PM - 6:50 - Worship in the Fellowship Hall. Our theme this year is "Body Building."
Worship will include clips from the movie, "Facing the Giants." Through this inspiring story about a football team, we will study how Jesus shapes and forms us into the team that the Bible calls Christ's Body - the church. There will be a message for children as well as adults, and a special gift each night that relates to the theme for the children.
Feel free to wear the shirt, hat, or jacket of your favorite football team! It will be a visual reminder of our diversity, in the midst of our unity!

Ash Wednesday:
The Season of Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 PM in the worship space. This very moving service includes the "Imposition of Ashes" on the forehead of each worshiper, reminding us that our bodies on this side of heaven are temporary. Two things are certain: we will all die. But the ashes are traced in the sign of the cross - reminding us of the certainty of Christ's promise of eternal life for all who believe in him. There will be special music, and Holy Communion will also be celebrated. Come and begin the season of Lent in the arms of Jesus and his promises.
The Season of Lent:
The Season of Lent spans the 40 days leading up to Easter, excluding Sundays - because every Sunday is considered a "little Easter! It is a more reflective time in the church year, modeled after the forty days Jesus spent in the desert being tempted by the devil. Like our Savior, we choose to lay aside those practices that lead us into temptation. Instead, we put on the "full armor of God" - through study of God's Word at home and in Small Group Bible Studies, as well as through prayer, generosity, and serving others in Christ's name.
Sundays in Lent: "Transformation!"
Our new "All-Church Campaign is entitled: "Transformation: How God Changes Us." Each Sunday in Lent, we will be preaching on the theme of the study for that week. Small Groups are available in a variety of locations. (See the listing of facilitators, locations and meeting dates under Discipleship News.) Please choose the one that works for you.
Themes are:
Feb. 23 - Transformed in my Spiritual Health
March 2- Transformed in my Physical Health
March 9 - Transformed in my Mental Health
March 16 - Transformed in my Emotional Health
March 23 - Transformed in my Relational Health
March 30 - Transformed in my Financial Health
April 6 - Transformed in my Vocational Health
Come worship and hear how Jesus brought transformation and faith to each person he encountered in our Lenten Gospel Lessons. We hope and ask for Christ to do the same among each of us.
Easter Cantata
Rehearsals for the Easter cantata have just begun and ALL are invited to join this moving ministry! The cantata will be presented on Easter (April 20th) at all three services. The glorious musical celebration starts with months of rehearsals that culminate in a brilliant, grandiose presentation by a large combined choir with orchestral accompaniment. The inspirational music comprises a variety of music, both traditional and contemporary, and will be a "best of" medley this year! Those who don't read music are welcomed and can learn the notes with rehearsal tracks. Truly all are invited! We need both vocalists and instrumentalists. Contact John Ivan for more information via email: johndavidivan@yahoo.com cell phone: 262-620-2349, or at church!
Praise Team
The Praise Team meets from 8:00PM-9:00PM on Wednesday nights for weekly rehearsals. The team leads contemporary worship music and introduces fresh new music at two services. If you play an instrument, love singing, or have technological interests, contact John Ivan at johndavidivan@yahoo.com to see how you can participate.

Youth Praise Team Immanuel's Youth Praise Team meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:30PM-6:30PM. The group for teens 6th through 12th grade needs vocalists, instrumentalists, and other participants to expand this promising and vital ministry-especially as we transition into the new church. Parents, encourage your children to join and cultivate their growing musical talents. The youth will gain vital experience in church leadership and discover new ways to connect with God! Contact John Ivan via email at johndavidivan@yahoo.com cell 262-620-2349.
Media Specialists
The media team utilizes modern technology during every worship service throughout the year. We are so grateful for their incredible devotion and humble hearts. Positions include running the computer, managing the sound board, and operating live video. As we transition into this new building, we are especially outreaching to new people to come and learn the new system. Now would be a perfect time to get involved as we will ALL be learning the new system! Contact John Ivan at johndavidivan@yahoo.com so he can inform you of the training sessions forthcoming.
Coffee Hour:
Beverages are available following the first service at the Welcome Center Counter in the Gathering Space. Help yourself to Information about Immanuel that is on the counter. Our Coffee Hour follows the first service in the Fellowship Hall to the left of the worship space. Come join us for treats, beverages, and conversation. It's a great way to meet new friends, and to share in fellowship with others. All are welcome!! Many thanks to those who help serve for these two ministries. If you are interested in also helping, we need you!! Sign up on the Worship Card. Thanks!
Hymnals: Please help yourself to a hymnal at the entrance of the worship space if you like to follow the music for hymns. Worship Needs We have commissioned Matt Schulz to build the new pulpit, which will match the design of the altar. Your donations to this project in honor or in memory of a loved one would be a huge gift! The pulpit will serve generations to come - especially those who come hungering for a relationship with our Savior. Thanks! Liturgical Arts Team We are so grateful to God for the very talented group who have been serving on our Liturgical Arts Team. Their first meetings have focused on new "paraments": the colorful hangings on the altar, pulpit, and credence table (behind the altar) - in the colors of the church year. Team members include: Dennis Schulz, Sandy Tonn, Carol Smith, Jackie Kuehl, Gretchen & Kyle Hoffman, Jeff & Jayne Erickson, Sara Wahlstedt, Randi Mikrut and Pastor Mary Ann. The new paraments will be in the worship space for the season of Lent! Eventually the team will also work on other artistic needs in the building. If you're interested in helping, let any member of the team know.

DISCIPLESHIP NEWS
All-Church Small Group Bible Study: 50 Days of Transformation!
Our first All-Church Small Group Bible Study Series in our new church building has begun!
This is a brand new church-wide, 7 session campaign. It will guide participants to explore what the Bible has to say about how the power of Jesus Christ transforms the seven key areas of our lives: spiritual health, physical health, mental health, emotional health, relational health, financial health, and vocational health.
The world is shouting answers to our relationship struggles, solutions to our financial trouble, and explanations to our search for meaning. But the world's promises leave us empty and searching for more. God's Word is the only answer that promises to transform our lives from the inside out. As we begin to think differently, we will be empowered to live differently.
The Study Includes:
- DVD Teaching - includes seven powerful small group lessons taught by Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. Each lesson, combined with materials from the Transformed Journal, will inspire us to take stock of ourselves in each of these key areas of life.
- Small Group Bible Studies! Check out the schedule of Small Groups available throughout the week, at a variety of times and locations. There is a group for YOU!
- The Transformed Journal. Includes 50 daily devotions, notes for the video teaching, Biblical texts, discussion questions, and personal studies.

Due to the increased volume of visitors last year, they are currently looking for additional volunteers to help. They are seeking individuals who will guide patrons with a learning experience as they tour the museum. They also offer opportunities to use skills or talents such as office work, painting, exhibits, research, computer skills, cleaning, fund raising, carpentry or electrical skills. If you would like to learn more about the volunteer opportunities at the museum, please call Karen Jo, Helen or Pat at 262-248-6060 or contact them at staff@genevalakemuseum.org. New Building Update
PARKING: We are blessed to have 5 times more parking spaces than we did at our old building but now we're filling it to capacity. Thankfully we can use the Middle School Lot. We're grateful for those who can use this option. Please do not park in the connecting driveway to the Middle School. Please leave spaces closest to the building for guests and seniors. Thanks!
Immanuel Lawn Signs
Immanuel lawn signs are available in the overflow and narthex. Please feel free to take one to post in your yard!

Thanks
+ A very big THANK YOU to all who donated to the bake sale for the family of Seth Milbocker which was hosted by Immanuel's 3:16 Youth Group last Sunday. The bake sale was a great success due to the tremendous outpouring of support from those who donated baked goods, bought from the bake sale, or simply made a donation.... Each of your donations are appreciated and such a help to this family during this difficult time.
+ Special thank you to our Middle School students - your support during the sale, and in the last couple of weeks has been simply amazing. Every one of you is a blessing to our congregation.
+ Thanks to the amazing Bells of Immanuel for ringing on February 2nd. They rang for the first time in the new building and it sounded exquisite! Special thanks to Ellen Hanson for leading the group! If you missed the song, listen here: http://youtu.be/Ey14VSCg88w
+Thank you to all the wonderful Sunday School Singers for sharing their voices on February 9th! A special thank you to Tami Buntrock and John Ivan for their dedication in helping Immanuel's Kids. We continue to have over 70 children bless our classrooms each week. Thanks to all our teachers for sharing the message of our Lord each Sunday! It is so nice to see our classrooms filled with children eager to learn God's Word! Brianna Deering
+ A special thank you to Rhonda Ganansky for her amazing heart cookies on February 9th! The Sunday School Kids loved the special treat, and had such fun decorating them after they were done singing. Brianna Deering
+ Thanks to the Praise Team for learning and introducing new Christian music to keep worship inspirational. They introduced a fabulous new song, "Jesus, Firm Foundation" on February 9th and have plans for wonderful new songs coming up!
+ To Members of Immanuel Lutheran, As my 80th Birthday approached I told my family that I did not want any "fuss" about the day. In addition they were told I would not be sending "thank you" notes for occasions such as Father's Day or Birthdays. I wanted to say "thank you" later from the perspective of living as an 80 year old. Six years ago a diagnosis of stage four, Type B Large Cell Lymphoma was unexpected. The prayers and support from Pastor Mary Ann, Pastor Mark and the congregation during surgery and chemotherapy was overwhelming and appreciated. Thank you to the Quilters for the gift of a beautiful quilt in my favorite colors for my 80th birthday. Additional "Thank You" to the card and cookie ministry members for their consistent encouragement and prayers. A heartfelt "Thank You" to the members of our Immanuel family. Joyce and Earl Vorpagel
+ Dear Immanuel, Thank you for the Christmas cookies and the Poinsettia plant. Sincerely, Shirley Adams
+ Special thanks to Laurie Cornue (violin) and Eileen Weyrauch (flute) for tenderly playing the duet "Blessed Assurance" on February 16th at all three services. It was so moving, especially played during confession time. Thanks to these very talented ladies!
+ Huge thanks to Jaime Ivan for subbing on the piano for me on February 16th with a two hour notice! She did a fabulous job (I hear) under the circumstances! I so missed being at church, but rested well knowing she and the entire team would still bring glory to God through song! Thanks all for being flexible!
