Please join us for the final school-wide PA meeting of the 2015-16 school year.  

We have a lot of important info to pass on as well as new officers to elect to the Parent Association Executive Committee.  Bob Vitalo and Brandon Clark will inform us about the plans for the upcoming construction on the STEAM lab area in the US/MS. We will also welcome a police officer from the 78th Precinct to talk to us about recent muggings and assaults in our area and how to prepare our kids to be safe on the streets of NYC.

Speaker: Dr. Marc Brackett

Dr. Brackett is Senior Research Scientist in Psychology, director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, and a Faculty Fellow in the Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy at Yale University.

Guest speaker, celebrated environmental journalist Elizabeth Royte, in conversation with BC science teacher, Jess Smith, on "Where Things Go" - tales from Elizabeth's work tracing the secret trail of garbage, the hidden rivers of Brooklyn, and more.  



Brooklyn Greenway Spring Clean
Sunday April 24th, 10am-2pm
Meet at BGI's office, 153 Columbia St.


Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway Tree Maintenance 

Volunteer with Brooklyn Greenway Initiative to help care for trees in your community! This work will improve the health and lengthen the life of these trees, and make your neighborhood greener and more beautiful. Volunteers will be trained in litter removal, weeding, cultivating, and mulching techniques. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. 

Tools and Pizza Lunch provided.

Run the Brooklyn Half with Team BCS 
May 21st   
 
Did you make it through the NYRR gauntlet to get registered for the Air BNB Half Marathon? The BC Parent Association is getting together a group of runners to traverse the 13.1 miles of the May 21st race.

Want to join our team for some fun, group runs, and school spirit? 

Parents, faculty, staff, alums, and older students are all encouraged to join. (There's also a kids' 1-mile Boardwalk Run for younger runners.)

The Berkeley Carroll Parent Association Nominating Committee is very pleased to announce the slate of parents who have volunteered to run for positions as PA Officers for the 2016/2017 academic year.

Additional ballots will be available at the sites of the ballot boxes as well.  We also encourage all parents to attend the election taking place at the Annual PA meeting on April 12, 2016 at 7pm at 181 Lincoln Place in the Cafeteria.

Side by Side Activities
 
Side-By-Side (SbS) is a PA committee which coordinates parent-initiated activities that engage adults and kids outside of our school community to effect positive social change.
