NEW Public Service Externship Program + Parent Volunteers Needed!

Side by Side is offering a Public Service Externship Program to provide Berkeley Carroll 9th-12th graders with an opportunity to learn more about public service.  Externship positions will provide practical work experience, simply by pairing a BC student with a BC parent willing to mentor and allow the student to shadow them in their professional work environment.  Side by Side's Public Service Externships will be offered as a one week volunteer experience (unpaid) from June 15-19, 2015. where a student "shadows" a Berkeley Carroll parent who works or volunteers with a government agency or non-profit organization.

We are looking for parents that work with a government agency or a nonprofit organization that could volunteer to serve as Parent Field Supervisors (one-week: 6/15/15-6/19/15).  Parents that are on the Board of Directors of a nonprofit can also serve as a Parent Externship Coordinator and assign a Staff Field Supervisor.

There will be an Externship Info Session held for Upper School Students interested in public service at 181 Lincoln Place the week of 2/22/15 (date, time and room TBD).

Thank You!

Berkeley Carroll community donated over 250 pairs of gloves, socks and hats for the homeless - all wrapped with love with small fingers and lots of tape!  Many thanks to all the family's that gave their time, treasure and talent to this year's Side by Side service events and the community. A special HUGE shout outs to Kate Picard who chaired both the coat and the toy drive this year, Susan Marcinek who chaired the BPL book drive, Michele Welcome for coordinating the Cancer Walk, Michelle Minovi for coordinating the donation of 42 Thanksgiving pies to CHIPS and Jill Cornell for chairing the Thanksgiving feast at Friend Meeting. These community service events would not be possible without great volunteers!
