These Beach Hacks will have you saying, "Why didn't I think of that?"!
1). Save your feet from burning sand...
Try this simple trick to bypass those blisters.
Burning Feet
Burning Feet?
Has this ever happened to you? You're half-way to the shave-ice stand and realize you've made a terrible mistake.
No slippers, and the sand is hot...really hot...so hot, you'll never make it unless you can immediately figure out how to fly.
Cool Solution
Find Relief!
No need to fret. Here's a cool solution brought to you by your friendly Ocean Sports 'Ohana.
Simply kick away that top layer of burning sand and give your feet some relief on the cooler beach you've just exposed.
Granted, it may take a little longer to get to that shave-ice, but your toes will be thanking you every remaining step of the way!!
Coconuts
Look Up!

Oh...and one more little trick. If you think you can find respite from the heat under a shady palm, remember to look up before you get too comfortable.
Some of our palms harbor hidden coconuts...and even those little coconuts feel like BIG coconuts when they make contact with your coconut!
2). See the reef thru crystal-clear lenses...
Here's a clean solution for when you forget to bring your defog.
You and your buddy made it to the beach...you both remembered to bring your masks and snorkels, you both remembered to bring your fins, and you even remembered your dive flag.
Defog!
Defog your Mask Before Every Use

But no one brought the defog. Uh-oh...does this mean you're destined for quickly clouding masks? Sure you can try spitting in your mask before you put it on, but we all know that this trick only works when you have "gooey" spit. Yuck.
Defog
Try this Natural Defog
Don't despair...just use this natural trick and you'll be able to see all those beautiful fish without the ick-factor. Find a Naupaka plant, (they're pretty common on the shoreline), pluck one of its thick leaves, and rub the leaf vigorously on the inside of your mask. Then, simply swish your mask through the ocean and slide it into place. Magical (and naturally regenerating) defog!
How do you know which plant is a Naupaka?
Just look for the bright green shrub with "half-flowers".

Of course, if you're planning your snorkel adventure at Anaeho'omalu Bay, be sure to stop by our beach hut on your way to the water and our crew will happily share our defog with you and your buddies!

3). Fix your slippah on the fly...
Try one of these quick fixes and you'll be on your way in no time!
One Fix
Bread Bag Holder Fix
Whether you call them thongs, flip-flops, or "slippah" like we do in Hawaii, if you've worn 'em, we bet you've had a blow out!
Sure you could duct tape a ripped one to your foot...we've even seen people fix them with one of those little plastic bread bag holders. But slippahs always seem to break when you're facing a long hot walk across a parking lot, and who carries duct tape or plastic bread bag holders with them all the time anyway?
Thorn Fix
Thorn Fix
Next time you're faced with a broken slippah, try this trick. Find a Kiawe thorn (or any other sharp little stick) and pierce it through the slippah stem. It may not last a long time, but it'll last long enough for you to get to a new pair.
Want to avoid this problem entirely? Stop by Ocean Sports at the Queen's MarketPlace or our retail store at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort
Slippers!
You'll feel good about these slippahs!
and pick up a pair of FeelGoodz Slippers. And even better, Feelgoodz ensures fair-trade practices...empowering local communities with consistent work opportunities -- and that's something we can all get behind!
