Barbecue Saturday

Saturday is Monadnock Aviation BBQ day.  The burgers, dogs, and chili will be served hot at noon!  We have the added fun of hosting the Sonex builders and flyers for lunch this Saturday (weather permitting).  With potential for a large lunch turnout, we are requesting a $10 donation for all-you-can-eat lunch and proceeds will go to EAA Chapter 1314 for future event funding!

Congrats Nathan and Rowdy

Congratulations to Nathan Spaulding and Rowdy Hough.  Both accomplished their solo flights this month.

Nathan trains with CFI Rick Beck in our Cessna 172 and Rowdy trains with CFI Rick Beck in our Piper Warriors.  Both are poised to become skilled Private Pilots and we are proud to have them train at Monadnock Aviation!

New Aircraft in Fleet!

We are very excited to announce an addition to the fleet at Monadnock Aviation!!! Now here, and soon available for lease, is a Beech Sierra. Come and check it out on our ramp.

This roomy aircraft comfortably seats four with retractable gear, fuel injection, 200HP IO360, and constant speed prop.  It is equipped with an autopilot, HSI, and a KLN-89B GPS. Commercial pilot training -- here we come!

Private Pilot Ground School

Last call for our Private Pilot Ground School commencing next week.  The ground school is terrific for:

  • student pilots preparing for their written exam
  • aspiring commercial pilots preparing for their written exam
  • rusty pilots in need of a refresher
  • curious aviation enthusiasts who want to learn more

The class convenes Tuesday's at 6:00PM for approximately 12 weeks. You do not have to be an active flight student to participate in this class.  The cost is $250 plus materials.  Please contact us by phone or email with questions or to reserve you seat in the class.

Drone Ground School

Take your Commercial UAS Ground School at Monadnock Aviation on October 22nd and 23rd.  This is an 8 hour course designed to prepare aspiring commercial drone operators to take their written exam.  The cost of the course is $200.  The FAA written exam is an additional expense and can be administered by Monadnock Aviation. Please call or email with questions or to reserve your seat in the class.

EAA Monthly Gatherings

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1314 gathers at 10:00AM on the third Saturday of each month for Hangar Flying at the Keene terminal building.  Please join the local EAA chapter members to discuss plans, events and aviation-related topics.
Student Pilot Social

Come one, come all to a Student Pilot Social. The date is November 7th at Monadnock Aviation, 6:00PM. Whether you are a student pilot, a new pilot, or just considering flight lessons, this is a terrific place to build your aviation community.  By the way, you don't even have to be a Monadnock Aviation student; student pilots from other training schools are welcome to attend.  We will serve up pizza and talk about winter flight operations. Thanks to Rick Horton for facilitating the conversation!
AAC Meeting Friday

Keene's Airport Advisory Commission (AAC) will meet Friday (September 16th).  This is a public meeting and all are welcome to attend.  The meeting is scheduled for 8:30AM in the terminal. Click here to see the agenda (it may take a few moments to load).
Rusty Pilot Seminar

Monadnock Aviation is pleased to present an AOPA Rusty Pilot Seminar on January 21, 2017.  We packed the room for our last one and are excited to again offer this opportunity to pilots who want to get back in the air.  There is no cost for this seminar.  Look for the registration link in our next newsletter.

Instrument Ground School

Our next Instrument Ground School is now forming.  The course begins January 17, 2017

and will last approximately 12 weeks. The cost is $250 plus materials. Is now the time to take your skills to the next level?

Please call us or email with questions or to reserve your place in the class.

Transponder Use

Interesting modification to what most of us have been trained to do regarding transponder use.  Please have a look at this AOPA article regarding changes to the 2016 AIM.
