Puppy-dogs and Hot-dogs

Join us this Saturday around noon to support the Monadnock Humane Society in their 28th Annual Walk for Animals fundraising event.  Bring your leashed pet, have hot dogs, listen to DJ music, and maybe win a prize in the Humane Society raffle.  The event is a short walk from the ramp in our terminal parking lot.
Student Pilot Social

Making the decision to begin flight training can be overwhelming.  Then sticking with flight training when it feels like you'll never be able to land the plane or master the maneuvers is daunting.  Monadnock Aviation believes that having a support network in your flight school, other certificated pilots, and student pilots is critical to staying motivated.

Please join other student pilots, new private pilots, and flight instructors at Monadnock Aviation on Monday, June 20th, at 6:00PM for a Student Pilot Social.

Ask questions, eat pizza, participate in fun activities and witness a very cool demonstration of Oculus Rift in flight simulation (thanks to Matt for offering that).  We are grateful to Rick Horton for leading this event.  Please email Rick Horton to RSVP or with any questions.
Safety Seminar - Spins

Please join Monadnock Aviation and guest speaker Wes Liu on August 20th at 1:00PM for a seminar titled "Expanding Your Personal Flight Envelope - Spins". (The seminar will take place immediately following our monthly barbecue!)

Wes will thoroughly dissect the topic of spins:
  • What is a spin
  • Flight into spins
  • How not to spin
  • Video views of a spin from inside and outside the airplane
  • Spin recovery methods
  • Spins for fun and competition
We are grateful to Wes Liu (International Aerobatic Club (IAC) Safety Coach, competitor and National Judge) for sharing his knowledge and experience with the pilots at Keene.

Introduction to Aerobatic Training

Monadnock Aviation is thrilled to host Introductory Aerobatics Training at Keene on August 6th!  This offer is through a terrific partnership with East Coast Aero Club.

The cost for this Introduction to Aerobatics is $279 and will include a 30 minute briefing (approximately) and at least .7 hours in a 8KCAB Super Decathlon

During the flight, you'll fly an aerobatic steep turn, loop, roll and a spin after an instructor demonstration of each.  For a rough idea of what to expect on the flight, here is a YouTube playlist of similar flights  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMcLv5jo11RccfPKPuCe4z_gRJVpcgf_C

Because the aircraft has to be within the aerobatic category weight and balance, the maximum pilot weight we can take is 225 lbs.

We need to confirm at least 4 pilots, in advance, to make this event happen. You can email me to confirm your spot. Once confirmed, in an effort to maximize your time flying, we will provide you with some reading material to prepare you to take full advantage of the flight.
Aerobatic Practice

The New England Aerobatic Club will hold a practice session at Keene, weather permitting, on July 9th.  Their practice box is in the southwest quadrant of the airport 1500'MSL to 5000' MSL.  The NOTAMs will reflect, depending on winds, right traffic for runway 02 or right traffic for runway 32 during the aerobatic activity.  In addition, expect no touch-and-go landings and no practice low approaches on runway 02 during the aerobatic activity.

EAA Chapter Meeting

the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1314 meets the third Saturday of each month at 10:00AM in the terminal building at Keene.  If you are building a plane or just want to see what it's all about, then please come this Saturday.
AAC Meeting Friday

Keene's Airport Advisory Commission (AAC) will meet Friday (June 17th).  This is a public meeting and all are welcome to attend.  The meeting is scheduled for 8:30AM in the terminal; click here to see the agenda (this may take a few seconds to load).

The following letter to all pilots from the Chairman of the AAC, Clark Dexter:

Dear aviation enthusiast,

One of the charges from the City of Keene to the Airport Advisory Commission is to: "Promote communication and the exchange of ideas and concerns between airport users and city staff and the city council." To that end, I invite each of you to contact the AAC with your comments... the good and the bad! If something needs to be changed or improved we want to know. And of course if something is good, we would like to know about that too so that it can be maintained.

The AAC meets the third Friday of the month at 8:30 am at the airport. It is a meeting open to the public where you are encouraged to voice your concerns or recommendations to our council or you may contact me at: cdexter@ne.rr.com

In the meantime, I encourage you to read the attachment (this attachment may take a few moments to load) which was sent to the members of the New Hampshire Pilots Association via their newsletter written by Roger Pascoe, "the Flying Gourmet". The NHPA is an active group of pilots and membership is FREE! If you are not already a member simply go to WWW.NEWHAMPSHIREPILOTS.ORG and complete the membership application. It's a great organization full of flying information and other flying related activities for both active and inactive pilots alike.
Poker Run Next Weekend

The Air Direct Airways Poker Run is next weekend!  Please buy a hand to support Homes for Our Troops.  Home for Our Troops is a New England based organization that provides new, specially designed homes for troops severely injured in service. They have built homes throughout the US including 10 completed homes in New England with another 3 in progress.

Monadnock Aviation is, of course, participating. Other stops include Concord, Rochester, Laconia, and Biddeford. You must "buy-in"  from Air Direct Airways (by phone or email), but you can begin your run at any of the participating locations.

Remember, The Flight Deck restaurant is now open in our terminal building at Keene, right beside Monadnock Aviation!

Thanks,

Beth
