The Flight Deck

I am pleased to report that we have a new restaurant opening next month in the terminal!  Tracy Keating will open The Flight Deck just in time for summer flying.  So gather your flying buddies, work up an appetite, dust off your plane, and come enjoy a meal in a friendly, welcoming place.

Congrats Chris and Jack!

Congratulations to Chris Alexay who is now a Private Pilot! Chris trained with CFI Rick Beck and had his checkride with Designated Pilot Examiner Greg Livernois (not in picture).  Chris began his flight training long ago and far away and it was soon interrupted by life's events.  He kept the dream of flight for many years until the time was right to start again and we are thrilled for his accomplishment!

Chris held the title of "Newest Pilot in Keene" for only a few short hours upon which time it was passed on to Jack Quigley.

Jack trained with CFI Gene Moody (not in picture) and had his checkride with Designated Pilot Examiner Greg Livernois.  Jack is an Out-Of-The-Blue scholarship recipient who soared through his pilot training with skill, poise, and composure.  Always prepared, always serious; we are somewhat sure that he almost cracked a smile when he passed the checkride!
Private Pilot Ground School

We are accepting students for our spring Private Pilot Ground School.  The class will meet Tuesday evenings at 6:00PM, for approximately two hours, beginning May 17th.  This session's duration is 12 to 14 weeks and will culminate with a practice FAA Written Exam.  The course is being taught by CFIs David Dezendorf and Denny Caldwell.  The cost is $250 plus materials.

This course is appropriate for student pilots preparing to take their written exam, private pilots in need of a refresher, and for non-aviators interested in broadening their horizons.  Please email me if you'd like more information or to be added to the roster.
FAA Increases Sim Time

Terrific news from the FAA regarding instrument training!  An FAA final rule becomes effective on May 12th which will allow instrument students to count up to 20 hoursincreased from 10,  in an approved aviation training device (ATD) toward their requirements.  The new rule also says students don't have to wear a view-limiting device while in a simulator.

Our Redbird LD is an ATD and we have CFII's ready to start your instrument training!
