Short Field Course

Monadnock Aviation is pleased to offer a Short Field Course.  Whether you have a specific short field that you would like to access or are just looking to hone your aviator skills, this course can help.

The course is designed to begin with a group lecture (approximately 3 hours) discussing short field techniques, weather and density altitude, and other flight planning factors.  Our Redbird LD simulator will be used to demonstrate techniques.

Following the lecture (either the same day or soon thereafter), we will offer flight instruction to pre-selected short fields to practice your technique. We can tailor the fields to your needs, whether it be the seacoast, New Hampshire or Vermont mountains, or Connecticut and nearby coastal areas.  Your flight experience can be a private or you can cut the flight cost by flying dual with another "student".  The flight portion of the training will provide for up to 4 hours of flight time in our Cessna 172 and more can be arranged on an individual basis. Can we do the training in your aircraft?  Definitely maybe!  Email me and we can make that decision together.

Intrigued?  Here's information from Flight Training magazine to whet your appetite and refresh on the techniques you'll need for this course.

The cost for this course is $850 for individual flight time or $450 for dual flight time and includes 7 hours of instruction (3 lecture and 4 flight) as well as Redbird LD simulator use, and use of our Cessna 172 (wet).  For those who choose to do the flight portion individually, it can also serve as a Flight Review and an aircraft checkout in N5136C for your future flight use.

Please contact me with any questions or if you are ready to reserve your seat.  The date is not firm but the lecture will be on a Saturday morning in May.

Annual Inspection Due?

For most people, the season is winter.  For Monadnock Aviation, it is Annual Inspection season.  If you are an aircraft owner who prefers to have your annual inspection completed just before spring flying weather, we are ready!   We are currently scheduling inspections and aircraft service through June.  Please contact us to reserve your inspection date.

Private Pilot Ground School

We are accepting students for our spring Private Pilot Ground School.  The class will meet Tuesday evenings at 6:00PM, for approximately two hours, beginning April 19th.  This session's duration is 12 to 14 weeks and will culminate with a practice FAA Written Exam.  The course is being taught by CFIs David Dezendorf and Denny Caldwell.  The cost is $250 plus materials.

This course is appropriate for student pilots preparing to take their written exam, private pilots in need of a refresher, and for non-aviators interested in broadening their horizons.  Please email me if you'd like more information or to be added to the roster.
Boston Center and Approach Tours

We have arranged tours of Boston Center and Boston Approach.  The tentative date is March 26th.  Both facilites are in the Nashua area. Our tour size is limited to about ten people, so please email me if you'd like to attend.
AAC Meeting Next Friday

Keene's Airport Advisory Commission (AAC) will meet next Friday (February 26th).  This is a change from the originally scheduled date of February 19th.  This is a public meeting and all are welcome to attend.  The meeting is scheduled for 8:30AM in the terminal; click here to see the agenda.

We have been getting calls about whether Alton Bay's Ice Runway is open yet.  The answer is not yet.  You can call 603-875-3498 for an automated message about the runway opening and ice conditions.

Happy Flying,
