Why Come to Keene?

For
February 27th
8PM

Keene's historic Colonial Theatre is hosting 10,000 Maniacs in concert. Enjoy shopping and dinner on our beautiful Main Street and then stroll to the show. The Courtyard and Fairfield Inn are an easy walk to it all if you'd like to make it an overnight get-away. We would be happy to arrange transportation to and from downtown for you as well as any other reservations you desire.

It's Barbecue Time!

This Saturday is our last BBQ of the season.  While the barbecue is on us, please come armed with canned goods and non-perishable pantry items. Monadnock Aviation is sponsoring a food drive at the airport through the end of November for the Community Kitchen.  It would be wonderful for a big delivery of food and support to come from pilots and the airport.

Here are some items from the Community Kitchen's wish list: hot & cold breakfast cereal, granola bars, juice boxes, canned tuna & meats, canned fruit & soups, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, boxed dinners, pasta/rice, peanut butter, jelly, and personal care items.

We will also have a monetary/check donation jar available if you prefer to help in that way. Please help and thank you!
Student Pilot Support

Let's face it, being a student pilot is challenging at times.  Having a network of other student pilots can be a valuable support structure.   Are you interested in getting together with other students pilots to discuss their successes and struggles?  Perhaps you want to learn which type of ground school training has worked best for others, or simply ask questions that you don't want to ask your CFI.  Would you like to take a look at someone else's Dauntless Software before committing $50?

If this type of event has value to you, then please come to Monadnock Aviation on December 7th at 6:30PM for a student pilot social gathering.  We will provide the pizza, you provide the networking.  Please email Rick Horton to RSVP or with questions.
Manchester Tower Tour

Monadnock Aviation is arranging a Manchester Tower tour for January. While we have not identified the exact date yet, the tour will likely be on a Saturday. If you are interested, please email me so I can add you to the list as the group size will be limited.  Details to follow.

Instrument Ground School

Instrument Ground School is just around the corner.  Our class will start in January and meet one night a week for approximately 12 weeks. Please call or email me if you'd like more information or to be added to the roster.
Cold Weather Operations

Well, there's no way to avoid it so let's embrace it.  Winter is on the way.  Below are some resources on cold weather operations to help keep you and your aircraft safe. (Thanks to CFI Rick Beck for the info.)

This link is to the FAA Safety Briefing on Winter Operations.  It's a big document (18MB), but packed with great information.

This link is an AOPA Webinar on Cold Weather Ops.  It is just over an hour long and not dazzling on graphics, but good information nonetheless.

And finally, let's see who was paying attention.  Here is a pop quiz on cold weather operations from AOPA's Air Safety Institute.  (You may need to create a log in to access this.  It's easy, free, and worth a few moments of time to access all of the resources available from AOPA.)
AAC Meeting Friday

Keene's Airport Advisory Commission will meet Friday (November 20).  This is a public meeting and all are welcome to attend.  The meeting is at 8:30AM in the terminal lobby.  Click here to see the agenda.
