Airline Careers Begin Here!
The aviation industry is preparing itself for a crippling shortage of commercial pilots. The situation is caused, in part, by increased minimum flight standards and the upcoming mandatory retirement of many senior airline pilots. This, coupled with an unprecedented worldwide demand for pilots, could create an ideal situation for those seeking to enter the industry.
Have you wondered how to become an airline pilot? Does the lure of flying as a career call to you? Join Monadnock Aviation on Thursday, February 13th at 6PM to learn about the career path of a professional pilot. Listen to a presentation, fly the Redbird LD simulator, see the training aircraft, and get answers to your questions.

That's One Fierce Warrior
Piper Warrior N44836 is fresh out of avionics maintenance with a few upgrades. A master switch was added, the ADF was removed (so much for listening to AM radio now!), and an engine data management system was installed. These upgrades better standardize our aircraft and make it easier to fly any of our planes. Priced the same as our other Warrior, this airplane is ready to fly!

Engine Preparation for Winter Ops
Do you fly in cold weather? At what temperature are you risking damage to your engine if you start it without some sort of preheating? Good news: there is definitive guidance on the subject from the engine
manufacturers - Continental Service Information Letter 03-1 (PDF) and Lycoming Service Instruction 1505 (PDF). In short, Continental recommends use of a heated hangar for a minimum of 4 hours when temps are below 20 degrees F. If pre-heating with a combustion heater, heat should be applied for 30 minutes. The engine manufacturers also provide suggestions for maximum RPM during the warm-up period. It's great information to spare yourself a big headache. And did I mention that we do have heated hangar space available by reservation. This helpful information comes from an article tucked way down at the bottom of an AVweb newsletter. (Thanks to CFI Rick Beck for bringing it to my attention!)
