 Why Come to Keene?

For
October 19th
Noon-8:30PM

Join our effort in Keene to regain the world record for the most lit jack-o-lanterns in one place.  You can expect over 30,000 of them!  It is spectacular to see towers of jack-o-lanterns and racks lining Main Street.   And we are not talking just triangle shaped eyes hacked out by a ten year old (although there are those too!), some of the pumpkins are works of carved art!

We are expecting several large groups of pilots to fly in for this event.  We will have a pumpkin carving station here at the airport and the shuttle bus will pick up on call for us.

Food, music, and lots of activities all make this a perfect family day.

Barbecue Saturday Is Next Weekend

Join us next Saturday, October 26th, at noon for a barbecue at Keene!   This will be our final barbecue for the winter but keep watching the newsletter, our Facebook page, or the News and Events button on our webpage.  We have some other activities in the planning to keep our aviation skills sharp and have some fun!

For our final barbecue this year, we will host the Katahdin 99s with their Treasure Hunt wrap up barbecue and prizes.  There is still time to join the flying treasure hunt. Contact Kate McGee for more information.

Don't Let This Happen to You!

Need a hangar for this winter?  There is one heated hangar space left in Keene and it will go quickly.   Email Beth.  There is also heated and unheated storage space available off-airport if you have an RV, car, or motorcycle to store.
Aerobatics at Keene

The New England Aerobatic Club, IAC Chapter 35, is having an aerobatic contest Saturday, Sunday is the rain date, at Keene. The airport will remain open for normal business.

Check NOTAMS for details, but they will have a waivered aerobatic box located west of runway 02/20 and south of runway 14/32.  It will extend up to 4500 feet AGL (4988 feet MSL).  They have requested the traffic pattern  change to a right-hand pattern for runway 02 and for runway 32; runway 02/20 will be the preferred runway unless the wind really favors 14/32. Touch-and-go operations will not be permitted while the aerobatic box is in use.

They are hoping to start around 0930 and finish up in the afternoon.   A picture depicting their box is below.

Congratulations Rick

And for those of you who have not heard, our CFI Rick Bendel is at Flight Safety working on his type rating for the CRJ-700.  He'll be flying much bigger planes than our Warrior!  Here he is, loving life, in the simulator.

Ghastly Rhyme

This dark safety reminder feels right for the Halloween season.  It is from AOPA's Air Safety Institute.

Happy flying.
