Barbecue Saturday

Saturday is barbecue day!  Please join us at noon.  We are short handed this weekend and can use two able bodied people to man the grill.  No experience necessary!  Please let me know if you can help.

We will try again to host John Miles, Maine Aircraft Sales, at this barbecue.  As always, his arrival depends on weather.  He'll bring in a Cessna 162 Skycatcher for all to see.

Congratulations Reed

Congratulations to Reed Chuda who completed his first solo flight!  Reed trains in Warrior N44836 with CFIs Rick Bendel and Gene Moody.

Reed is hoping to finish up his license before heading off to college in the fall.  His dream is to continue his flight training and become a commercial pilot.  Whether flying for the airlines or a corporation, Reed's got the right stuff!
Sonex Fly-In

We are looking forward to the 5th Annual Sonex Builders Fly-in next month.  Glenn's Sonex Sonex builders and admirers will converge upon Keene's terminal building on September 7th around 10AM.  With a full day on the agenda, the event has grown to be an FBO favorite!  Email Mike Smith with questions.
Runway Update From the Airport Manager:

The City recently accepted bids from contractors relative to the Runway 2/20 Runway Rehabilitation Project. Originally, construction was planned for this summer. However, due to a bid protest, the City chose to rebid the project. In that re-bid, we asked for prices for construction this year as well as next spring. As it turns out, construction next Spring will reduce construction costs by approximately $400,000. As the current runway is safe and serviceable there should be no operational issues with rescheduling the work and saving taxpayers a significant amount of money. We are still exploring opportunities to reduce the total construction time from 45 days to 30 days. Please keep in mind that Runway 14/32 will be available during the project except for when the intersection work is completed (about 10 days). The exact start date of the project will be publicized well in advance.

Save The Date

Save the date of October 26th for the New England 99s Treasure Hunt.  More details to follow but flying, fun, and prizes with a wrap up barbecue here in Keene are in order.

Happy flying!
