Barbecue Saturday
Barbecue day is upon us once again. So ignore your cluttered garage, your dirty car, and your unfertilized lawn. Those things can wait until next Saturday. Come have burgers with us at noon!
John Miles, of Maine Aircraft Sales, will try once again to get here with the new Cessna 162 Skycatcher. Weather just did not permit it last month. As long as weather cooperates this month, he'll arrive just before noon and stay until the last curious onlooker is satisfied! |
Congratulations Kelly
Congratulations to Kelly
Mann who completed
his first solo flight this month. Kelly trains with CFI Rick Bendel in our Piper Warrior "337".
Kelly has his sights set on more than just flying to Laconia for breakfast. His goal is to fly around the world. His mission is described more fully on www.theworldsflight.com. It's a lofty goal and Kelly plans on the flight starting and ending right here in Keene in 2015! |
Congratulations Erik
Congratulations is also due to Erik Steele who successfully passed his checkride for private pilot this week! Erik began his training with CFI Rick Bendel at Monadnock Aviation and finished up as a student at Embry Riddle. |
Rent This Plane
Monadnock Aviation has added another aircraft to the training and rental line-up. This is a beautiful 1977 Piper Warrior PA-28-161. The plane sports a Garmin 430 and is IFR capable. This aircraft is available now and leases for $110 per hour "wet". |
Runway Resurfacing
Here is an update from Keene's Airport Manger, Ed Mattern.
Plans are moving forward for the rehabilitation of Runway 2/20 this summer. This will include the reclamation of existing pavement, resurfacing, installation of new signage, runway and taxiway lights, new wind cone and segmented circle and improvements to the west side safety areas. The big question is "When is the project scheduled?".
There is currently a bill pending in the State Legislature that will increase the State's share of certain airport improvement projects from 2.5% to 5%, reducing the City share. If passed, this will reduce the City's share of the runway project by up to $112,500. Out of deference to the City taxpayers that support the operation of the Airport, efforts will be made to take advantage of the opportunity to decrease the City's share of the project. This essentially means that the project will not be scheduled until the status of this legislation has been determined - sometime over the next month and a half. This means that the project will most likely not be scheduled for construction until mid to late summer. Your patience during this project is appreciated. |
