Barbecue Saturday
Another barbecue Saturday has come around. Please join Monadnock Aviation at noon on Saturday for a heaping helping of food and friendship.

We have an added bonus this weekend.
John Miles, of Maine Aircraft Sales, will bring a new Cessna 162 Skycatcher to the barbecue. If you have been considering buying a light sport, or are just curious, then this is your chance to see one in person.

Congratulations to Andrew who recently
graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. Andrew has volunteered for a few years making our
barbecues the culinary destination that they are. And here he is seen protecting the Alamo! Next he heads to Biloxi for tech school where he'll be educated in cyber security. |

Congratulations Brian
Congratulations to Brian Cohane who completed
his first solo flight this month. Brian has been a
fantastic student; flying the plane seems to come naturally to him. He trains with CFI Rick Bendel in our Piper Warrior "337". Nicely done Brian! |

Keene Airport Projects
This from Keene's Airport Manager:
Obstruction Clearing
As you may have heard or experienced, there are a number of obstructions to the Runway 20 approach at the north end of the airport, both on and off City property. The existence of these obstructions has mandated that the Runway 20 PAPI system be deactivated because of the proximity of the approach to the obstructions. The City will be engaging its airport consultant to perform an engineering evaluation and to quantify the problem. It will also be analyzing a number of recommendations that were made at several public forums recently conducted on this problem. An environmental assessment will be conducted to gather information that will be used to plan a mitigation strategy. This process will most likely take about a year to complete. The next step to address the problem will be determined by this process.
Runway 2 PAPI
Recently, the City completed the replacement of the Runway 2 PAPI system several miles of in-ground cables serving that system. While the installation is complete, the system cannot be activated until it has been flight checked by the FAA and certified. Due to administrative and scheduling requirements, this is not expected for up to 2 months. The new system is equipped with night setback feature that will automatically adjust the light intensity based on time of day. The new system is designed to provide service for 20 years. |
