VILLAGES SENIOR RESOURCE SERVICES (SRS)
With tax time upon us, everyone has many questions regarding the new tax forms and the laws pertaining to seniors. I feel it is time to tell everyone about the "hidden secret" in the Villages...Senior Resource Services.
This organization was formed in August, 2002 and is a group of Village volunteers with various business and professional backgrounds. These volunteers are bankers, attorneys, CPA's, Enrolled Agents, and insurance brokers. The goal is to provide information and education on financial matters to all Villagers - not just low-income Villagers. They do not provide extensive free professional work.
Examples of services provided:
- FREE preparation of basic individual income tax returns.
- FREE public notary service
- Review property and liability insurance policies
- Transfer real estate tax base from prior personal residence
- Senior property tax parcel exemptions such as Clean Creek and School District
- Special low income programs such as PG&E and AT&T rates
In 2014 the SRS volunteers handled a little almost 1,500 Villager requests. They distributed attorney lists, tax preparer lists, and information on government programs. They hosted Evergreen School District to come and process Measure H property parcel tax exemptions.
If you have a question or want to meet with a SRS volunteer, call 408.239.5253. The office is open 10 to Noon on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays with the phone monitored every day including weekends. They are located in Cribari Center across from the Post Office.

Macy's 'Art in Bloom'
On Tuesday, March 31, bring a friend and spend the day on a shopping trip to Union Square in San Francisco. This is the time of year that Macy's has their spectacular 2015 flower show "Art in Bloom".
Registration began on February 9 at the Community Resource Center and the cost is $29/person which is the cost for the bus ride. Enjoy the day having breakfast and/or lunch with friends in Union Square and shopping 'til you drop!
This is just one of the GREAT trips arranged by the ladies at the Community Resource Center.
