Fall Cleaning Chore Checklist
It's Autumn. 
Pumpkins glow in golden fields. Shorter days, crisp mornings signal winter's approach.
Can the holidays be far behind?
Use Autumn's brisk and breezy days to conquer deep-cleaning chores for a clean and comfortable winter home, and wrap up summer's outdoor areas.
Outside The House
Summer's come and gone--and left its mark on outside the house.
Time to come inside for winter! Outside the house tend to these autumn chores:
- Clean and store patio furniture and umbrellas.
- Inspect external doors and garage doors. Do they close tightly? Install weather-stripping, door thresholds if needed.
- Wash exterior windows.
- Drain and store garden hoses. Install insulating covers on exterior spigots.
- Have chimneys and flues inspected and cleaned if necessary.

Would you like to help a needy child progress at least one grade level in their reading? Nearby schools have a program called Reading Partners. This is a non-profit that provides a terrific tutoring program to students in grades K-5 at a nearby local elementary school. You can make a big difference by spending an hour or two each week with your own assigned student.

Spotlighted Resident - Shorty Joe
| Shorty Joe Quartuccio is living the American Dream.
He saw his dreams come true when he and his band, the Red Rock Canyon Cowboys, performed alongside Dude Martin and the Sons of the Pioneers, as well as Grand ole Opry greats such as Hank Williams Sr., Hank Snow and Lefty Frizzel.
Joe was an Italian immigrant and not only had his country western band but worked at NASA Ames Research Center for 31 years.
Joe and his wife, Jennie, recently moved into The Villages.
Editor's note: I danced to Red Rock Canyon Cowboys when I first moved to San Jose.
