The San Pancho Music Festival is one of our very favorite MUST-SEE San Pancho Events. This is a gift given to us every year, through the hard work of a few very dedicated people and the musicians who are willing to travel here to put on their show for free - because they all believe in the power of this magical pueblo and the sweet history of this musical tradition that has blessed our community for many years running. The Festival has grown bigger and more wonderful every year. For three nights the sounds of the festival float in the air over the town and we come to the plaza and enjoy the best of San Pancho. What a gift! Thanks to Chas Eller and all of the people who worked so hard on our behalf to pull off this epic event!

This week we were putting in double shifts because La Patrona Polo Club was hosting The La Patrona Open - Copa de Polo. Where else in the world can you see world-class polo players working their magic on the field, in a setting that will have you pinching yourself to see if maybe you have died and gone to heaven?  We dined in the beautiful new restaurant overlooking the field, and the food was delicious. But, our favorite place to watch the match was on the hill along the side of the polo field. From there we could hear the sound of the hoofbeats as they pounded past and the 'click' when someone hit the ball. What a beautiful and interesting sport! We have a lot to learn and we can't wait till next time we get a chance to enjoy this incredibly beautiful spectacle of fine horsemanship!

Takin' it to the Street
Street Wise - By Earl Miller

Earl Miller has been hard at work keeping us informed about some of the people you might meet out there on the streets of San Pancho.  Thanks for sharing, Earl!

John Bates

Where are you from?
Burlington, Vermont

How did you find San Pancho?
2001 came down with a friend who was in Sayulita, realized
chaos was not it, so heard about a place a few kilometers up the coast.
And voilà, San Pancho.

What do you do?
I am a lighting consultant, my company is called Bates and Co, World headquarters, located in Burlington. Vt

What is the best thing for you about San Pancho?
The joy of San Pancho is the beautiful mix of cultures, the layout of the town, the friendliness of the people - you can park a car, you can walk and the restaurants
are outstanding, the beach speaks for itself, even if the waves seem to be larger than some of the houses.  We were successful at bringing down two or three families that have invested and purchased houses, and some contribute to the music industry world-wide.
We feel lucky.........

Jim Furlong

Where are you from?
I'm from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

How did you find San Pancho?
My very good friends Pat and Donna Clarke convinced me to come to San Pancho.

What do you do?
I'm a retired teacher, and believe it or not I played 12 years as a linebacker in the CFL - for you non-Canadians that's the Canadian Football League.....

What is the best thing for you about San Pancho?
The best thing about San Pancho is the tequila. No, seriously it's the escape from winter, and most of all the friendly, great people you meet, and the great times you have with these people.

Rick Small

Where are you from
We are from Benicia, California and Lake Tahoe, California.

How did you find San Pancho?
We were looking for a place to "get-a-way-from-it-all", and our friends, Earl and Jane, suggested a little town called San Pancho, and it was love at first sight.

What do you do?
My "job" is that I've owned an insurance agency for the                                                                past 34 yrs.

What is the best thing for you about San Pancho?
The best thing for me is the laid-back vibe, the ocean, the music festival, and the great people. That might be more than one thing, but that's ok.

Hospital Fundraiser / Dinner at the Plaza Del Sol

Can you imagine if you desperately needed medications, x-rays or treatment and just didn't have the money to pay for it? So many in San Pancho and area find themselves in this situation.
Our cause is to continue with a special fund in our second annual fundraiser  for the hospital where the proceeds will be used where most needed... often for medicine and medical procedures, x-rays, casts for broken bones, prosthetic and orthopedic devices.... making an incredible difference to the lives of less fortunate that could not afford the treatment themselves.  We have the support of Social Services to identify special needs.
So many benefitted from last year's fundraiser.  This year's will take place at the plaza on March 12th, commencing at 6:00pm. The event will include a meal and live entertainment along with the silent auction.

Hope to see you all there!

 OOPS!!!
In our excitement to spread the word about the filming of a TV series at Mexotik by Food Network we kind of got it wrong...

The show is called Beach Bites - not Beach Mice!  At least Chef Daniel's sense of humor is almost as good as his food because he got a big laugh out of it....Our apologies to Chef Daniel and Mexotik!!   At least it was funny!

Featured San Pancho Video
Here is another San Pancho Video.  This one is a little dated but still great!

When You Give, You Get!

The San Pancho Music Festival is one of our favorite events of the year. So this year when Chas asked us if we could host one of the musicians that came in to perform for the festival, we were more than happy to help. Chas told us a little about the musician that would be visiting us.  He said that he thought we would be a good fit for each other.  Rolf Sturm was our house-guest, a kind and engaging man with a light-hearted sense of humor and wicked-hot guitar-playing skills.  He walked through the door and we knew immediately that  we were the lucky ones!  We even got the gift of listening to Rolf and Jenna practicing for their show in our back patio and I have to say that for us it was certainly one of the highlights of the festival - our own private performance... Wow!

On Monday we got a chance to talk with Chris Parsons about how the Music Festival needs all the help it can get to keep providing us with this amazing free show. It's not just financial help, although that is much-appreciated and very important. Help is needed in many other areas, such as hosting a musician, picking them up at the airport, and many other such tasks, which take the pressure off the organizers and allow them to concentrate on the bigger picture.  It doesn't cost a thing and we can tell you that it was really a treat for us to get to know Rolf and Jenna. So when you give in this way to the music festival - we all win!!!

A huge thank-you to all the organizers, musicians and volunteers that helped to make this one of the most successful Music Festivals to date!

Private Lessons with Sebastian

Drew & Don got the chance to have a private polo lesson with top-level polo player Sebastian Dawnay this week.  They discovered very quickly that even on a stationary wooden polo pony it is a pretty tricky thing to do.  Thanks to Sebastian for his generous offer to educate us about this amazing sport! What fun!
