Stop Smoking with Hypnotherapy
by: ROBERT CLEGG
(certified hypnotherapist)
TRANSFORM YOURSELF AND CHANGE YOUR WORLD
What You Believe You Can Living In The Attitude Of Gratitude
Hypnotherapy help many smokers achieve their goal of quitting on a regular basis. It is a well-known area of our work, and the results we produce are quite astounding, that's why so many ex-smokers suggest it to their friends and family members Deciding to become a smoker is not a decision that most people take logically. It is an emotional decision taken at a subconscious level. Therefore, any decision to stop needs to be taken at that same level. Quite simply, this is why hypnosis is such a successful way to give up smoking cigarettes. Many people considering stopping smoking feel that their true choice is being taken away from them. The secret of hypnotherapy is that it gets people to use their imagination to create a non-smoking future. This often feels very positive and empowering. Stopping smoking becomes the positive and definite choice.
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused concentration to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is conducive for positive thought, feeling, and behavior changes.
The hypnotic state occurs by relaxing the physical body, the conscious mind becomes less engaged and the subconscious mind becomes alert which allows a person to be more open to perception, discussion, memory, and has a major increase in response to positive suggestion.

Back From The Brink

Wintertime in the Riviera Nayarit is supposed to be a time of recuperation for Grupo Eco volunteers. Nesting season is over and we get a few months to work on maintenance projects, planning the next season and fundraising. But here it is mid-February and it feels like we are still working (almost) as hard as ever. We still have about 1,200 Olive Ridley sea turtle eggs incubating in the beach nursery and we are doing hatchling releases several times a week.
Additionally we have the exciting news of six Leatherback nests which were laid on our beaches between November 28th and January 25th. Leatherback sea turtles are critically endangered and extremely rare so we are very excited about these hatchlings!! All 6 nests are from the same female turtle. This species typically lays 4-10 nests-- 9 days apart, but they only nest about once every 5 years. Two of the nests have hatched so far and the next one should hatch on February 25 or 26. These nests are on remote beaches and the eggs cannot be moved, so to checking them requires a lot of time and a lot of beach walking, but it is worth it when we finally see a healthy nest emerge. Also the local fishermen have been reporting seeing a lot of Green Turtles in the ocean at night as they fish for squid. Green Turtles do not nest in San Pancho, but it is nice to know they are out there and in good numbers. All seven species of sea turtles are endangered and it is illegal to hunt them but many of them are killed accidentally by nets, swallowing hooks, swallowing trash, getting hit by boats, or ....unaccidentally for meat.

Banda Atrakadero
|
Banda is a traditional form of music that has flourished in Mexico for well over a century. It seems that every Mexican town has one or more bandas which provide musical services for the many festivals, parades, rituals, and ceremonies that make up a big part of their rich culture. Here in San Pancho we have Banda Atrakadero, a grass-roots collective of young musicians that have a wonderful story to be told.
Banda Atrakadero is a brass-based group of musicians comprised of local residents of San Pancho. The group was formed in June 2009 when Isabel Cienfuegos Polanco was approached by her son who wanted to start a banda, or a band. Since the traditional Mexican banda has a standard compliment of approximately 14 instruments, Isabel told her son that he would need many of his friends to make this happen. The next day her son returned with 17 friends that ranged in ages from 12 to 18. Isabel's nephew, an experienced banda teacher, agreed to help the boys form the group and practice.
With time, the boys became acquainted with the instruments they had to rent to practice on. Isabel, who originates from a family in Zapotanito that is musically inclined, was nurturing the boys into a musical career. She provided the boys her home and it's backyard as a venue to rehearse and learn new selections. Eventually Isabel realized that rental costs were increasing, and she began holding fundraisers and sponsoring raffles to buy the individual instruments they needed: trumpets, trombones, alto horns, clarinets and others. Knowing the importance of keeping the group motivated, and to insure they continued to progress well, she soon decided to fund many of the instruments herself. Her Christmas bonus was used to buy the necessary instruments needed for each banda member to have their own piece.
A professional banda teacher from Mazatlan, Abraham Duran, soon began working with the boys. He would drive to San Pancho each week to work with the boys for 3 days. Through Abraham, they honed their skills and learned a broader range of banda music using Solfege syllables. Abraham would introduce new songs written in Solfege. Each member of the group would copy the syllables into their own notebook to learn. These Solfege-based routines allowed the group to learn quickly. It was only months later that they were ready to begin performing the first 5 songs they knew. Banda Atrakadero was energized and in full bloom.
Today, Atrakadero proudly participates in the annual Music Festival as a much respected band that is often in demand in San Pancho and the local towns. Isabel continues to manage the group and offer her residence as a venue for the band to rehearse. Atrakadero has become an inspiration to many of the younger children in the village, who commonly gather around the backyard as the group practices. She generously accepts those that want to join and learn a particular instrument.
Atrakadero is a community symbol for all that the San Pancho Music Festival represents. Their rising popularity has allowed the group to mature and create a unique identity that makes them an integral part of the San Pancho's culture, and a valuable addition to the annual Music Festival.
BANDA ATRAKADERO

Ready to Burst for San Pancho
|
What are you doing for exercise lately? Life in San Pancho is pretty relaxing, so much so that it may be tempting to land yourself in the hammock whenever possible. Though hammock time is definitely a requirement around here, let us not forget the importance of establishing a healthy fitness regime. Please don't drop everything and head to the gym. Gyms are great for cold climates with no other options. That is not the case here! In San Pancho we have a plethora of fitness activities are our fingertips! Try a walk or jog on the beach, tackle some of the steep hills on the jungle road, or head to one of the many wonderful fitness classes available in San Pancho: yoga, zumba, toning with light weights (with Jungle Judi!) and more. Up for an adventure? Try heading out sea kayaking, mountain biking, surfing, or stand up paddle boarding. There is no shortage of exercise opportunities on this spectacular coastline.Regardless, it's easy to get stuck in an exercise rut. You may start off strong with a new routine and then gradually watch it fizzle. The trick here it to keep your body and mind stimulated by trying new things. A solid exercise routine includes a regular cardio component, strength training (ex. power yoga or toning with light weights) and a stretching component (ex. restorative yoga). Your body is unique and your fitness routine should be too. It's important to find a fitness equation that works for you and figure out how to make it sustainable. This doesn't mean doing the exact same thing every day. Try mixing things up! Try a new yoga class, jog and new running route, etc. As a health coach, one of my favorite discoveries is that you don't actually need a lot of time to "get fit". You might be happy to hear that a short blast of intense exercise has been proven to be even better for you than extensive workouts. Surprised? Welcome to the world of burst training, where high intensity intervals-high-speed jumping jacks, sit-ups, sprints and more-are the name of the game. The best part? Burst training means you can spend less time exercising and be fitter than ever. Too good to be true? Read more about the philosophy of "Burst Training" on my blog. Now get to it! Get your heart pumping and, the endorphins flowing! Don't worry, your hammock will be waiting for you when you get back.Interested in becoming a health coach?
