Here's a Look at What's Happening at the Ringwood Farmers' Market this Week!
|
|
Greetings! It's the last weekend of July (someone please put the breaks on summer!) and the market is brimming with the best our area has to offer. Have you tried Conturso's stuffed breads and pizzas yet? If not, make that a priority this week. And while you're there, taste one of their homemade tortilla chips. Bet you'll love them! Hudson Valley Pantry will be at the market this week; stop and get some salsa to go with those chips! The rain will hold off until later in the day, so enjoy a great morning at the market.

Janet's Baked Goods ~ Get them while they are available... Triple Berry Muffins: Blueberries, Raspberry and Blackberries (made with local eggs & fruit from Pegs Eggs and Conklin Farms). She'll also have Almond, Almond Apple and Chocolate Croissants and Mini Monkey Breads. If you haven't already sampled the new bread, Wheat Germ Baguette, please stop by and try it! Janet wants to say, "Welcome Back Ms. Cindy!" We all hope that you had a great vacation.
Pastabilities is bringing fire-roasted red peppers, freshly made Pesto and Chimichurri sauce along with their fabulous and fragrant pork and brisket sandwiches. Orchards of Concklin will have sweet corn and tomatoes, white and yellow peaches, white and yellow nectarines, and at least three kinds of sweet local plums. Don't forget quiche, pies and donuts! Bialas Farms ~ The summer veggies are starting to roll in now and we've got a gorgeous supply of green, white, and purple peppers to throw on the grill. Add some red and yellow onions, which happen to be the most flavorful we've grown in years, and a few links of spicy Italian sausage or kielbasy (see Snoep Winkel) and you've got yourself a party! The corn has been extra sweet this season so be sure to get extra to freeze for the winter. We still have lots of kirby cucumbers available for pickling. Let us know if you're interested. Hudson Valley Pantry returns this Saturday and they will have all varieties of salsa, including their explosively hot variety, Raspberries & Chipotle! Consider yourself warned. They'll also have their yummy Raspberry Fudge sauce made with Chambord as well as their Spinach & Artichoke Hummus. Edgwick Farm ~ Dan and Talitha are bringing their farmstead goat milk cheeses. Think about picking up some feta and trying this recipe:

Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad: serves many or few
Dice as much watermelon as you're in the mood to eat or share. Sprinkle the watermelon generously with our Moodna feta cheese. Coarsely chop fresh mint leaves and sprinkle on top. Talitha also loves a good sprinkling of black sesame seeds. For a super sweet watermelon treat, add a drizzle of honey.
