Launching Success Shopping Day! December 14, 2013

Launching Success is partnering once again with the Whatcom Literacy Council to organize a Launching Success Shopping Day!

 

10% of any purchases made on Saturday, December 14, 2013 will be donated to the Whatcom Literacy Council. 

 

Everyone is welcome to shop!

 

 

Just mention that you are associated with the Whatcom Literacy Council and we will receive your donation.

 

The store hours for Launching Success are 10:00am - 6:00pm. You may also shop online at anytime during December 14th to make your donation and help us fight illiteracy in Whatcom County.

New WLC Team Member
Keeley Savatgy. Group Learning Coordinator The Whatcom Literacy Council welcomes its newest staff member, Keeley Savatgy, to the team.  Keeley has accepted the position of "Small Group Coordinator" and will be working with the program staff on the six-week classes that we offer throughout Whatcom County.

Keeley graduated from Fairhaven College program in Spring 2013, and has served as a tutor for the English Conversation classes we offer in collaboration with the Whatcom County Library System.  Keeley also speaks fluent Spanish, and has experience coordinating volunteers.  The WLC team is excited about having Keeley on board.

Tutor Recruitment Information Session tutor and learner

January 8, 2014 @ 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm

 

At the Bellingham Public Library (in the Lecture Room)

Our doors are open; all are welcome!

 

If you have friends or family that you think would be interested in volunteering, please inform them of our Tutor Recruitment Information Session. They can learn more about the Whatcom Literacy Council, the far reaching impact of illiteracy and about becoming a volunteer literacy tutor.

 

Training is provided and tutoring takes place within your own community at hours convenient for your schedule. No previous teaching or foreign language skills are needed.

 

Tutors must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school.

ALP tutors, if you have not already done so, please resubmit your hours directly to Jessica
 for the month of September and October. We are experiencing technical difficulties with the online form. We apologize for the inconvenience. (You will be able to submit your November & future reports using the online form.)

Bad Weather Policy

The Whatcom Literacy Council main office will be closed if Bellingham Technical College (BTC) is closed and/or if Bellingham Public Schools are closed. Please call 360-752-8766 for BTC closure updates. You may also call Bellingham Public Schools at 360-676-6400 to check the status of school schedules.
