President's Perspective
By Dr. Cynthia Crabtree, president
Another amazing year at Sacred Heart Schools is underway! The energy of the students, the enthusiasm of our faculty/staff and the immediate involvement of our dedicated parents are quick to remind all of us how lucky we are to be a part of the Sacred Heart Schools community.
The school year actually began on August 13 with day-long professional development for all faculty and staff. As we do every year, we first gathered as a community in the beautiful Motherhouse Chapel for liturgy and commissioning. Regardless of one's faith tradition, this service and commissioning is a favorite of many faculty/staff members, as we rededicate ourselves to Catholic education, the mission and vision of Sacred Heart Schools, our students, and our Core Values of Community, Leadership, Reverence and Service. Leadership, one of the four Ursuline Core Values, speaks to the transformative value of a Sacred Heart Schools education. READ MORE |

Students Express Gratitude to Scholarship Benefactors
Eighty Sacred Heart Academy and Sacred Heart Model School scholarship recipients, parents, and benefactors attended the Sacred Heart Schools Scholars Brunch on September 12 at the Ursuline Arts Center. Scholarships provide promising students with opportunities to reach their full potential. "The circumstances that surround the establishment of each scholarship may vary," sa id Dr. Cindy Crabtree, president of Sacred Heart Schools. "The decision to establish any Sacred Heart Schools scholarship, however, affirms belief in our mission and the value of an Ursuline education, and for that we are grateful." READ MORE |
Sacred Heart Model School Strikes Up the Band
At Sacred Heart Model School the new cool all the middle school kids are talking about is band class. The Fulfillment of Love Begun on Earth
Martha Buser, the Ursulines of Louisville guru when it comes to Angela Merici, gave this homily at a prayer day a few years ago. The gospel was that of the Pharisee and the Publican (Luke 18: 9-14) who go to prayer. The Pharisee is obsessed by his own virtue and is contrasted with a tax collector who humbly asks God for mercy. Martha Buser retells the parable using an Abbess of a large Renaissance monastery and a member of the Company of St. Ursula. READ MORE |
