President's Perspective
By Dr. Cynthia Crabtree, president
With a New Year often come resolutions that we eagerly commit to, but soon find we are unable to keep for one reason or another. We can always try again next year, we tell ourselves. At Sacred Heart Schools, however, our administrators and teachers rise to every challenge put before them, and 2013 has kicked off with our school community rededicating itself to achieving the objectives and goals of our Promising Futures Strategic Plan. Take advantage of IRA Rollover Extension
Thanks to the recent tax law passed by Congress, the IRA roll-over is reinstated for a limited time. If you are 70.5 years of age or older, or have a family member who is, and have a traditional IRA, you must take a distribution which will be taxed, UNLESS you gift it to a charitable organization (up to $100,000), such as Sacred Heart Schools, prior to the end of January, 2013. This can be counted retroactive to the 2012 tax year. Also, if you already took a taxable distribution from your IRA in December 2012 you can avoid taxes on the distribution by making a gift to Sacred Heart Schools by January 31, 2013. READ MORE |
Your Child is Our First Priority
The Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy had an impact on all of us, even though we had no direct connection to the school in Newtown, Connecticut. The horrific event is a sobering reminder that our children - our most precious gifts - are truly the most vulnerable, and it is up to the adults to do whatever is in our power to keep them safe. At Sacred Heart Schools a safe and nurturing environment for students and staff is our priority. READ MORE |

Have you forgotten something?
Research shows that elephants never forget. Unfortunately, with the hectic daily schedule humans juggle, we do forget. Sacred Heart Schools parents received a letter, email, phone call or perhaps all three in the fall seeking commitment to the Annual Fund. Perhaps you had every intention of making a commitment, but have simply forgotten. It's not too late. The Annual Fund is used today by your school administrator -- it's part of the nuts and bolts of your son's or daughter's education. An elephant never forgets its roots. We hope you won't forget the roots of your son's or daughter's education that makes it unlike any other -- an Ursuline education nurtured by teachers that are unparalleled. Make your gift online or by contacting Lindsey Smith, annual fund officer, at 502.736.6501. |
