The Friendly Market - Worthy of Its Name

Located on Friendly Road, just off of Highway 70, The Friendly Market's location and name could not be more appropriate for this welcoming family business in Morehead City, NC. Customers often comment on how friendly the staff is no matter how busy they are. It must be they love what they're doing. And who wouldn't?

Over the past several years, owners Matt and Mindy Fitzpatrick have turned a simple road-side farm stand into a thriving three-fold business. Their tag-line says it all; Grow, Eat, Shop, LOCAL.

The local food shop, Mindy's Baked Goods is filled with creative, unique and seasonal recipes made daily from the kitchen. An overwhelming amount of desserts that include a secret recipe from Mindy's mother, scrumptious entrees, appetizers, dips, spreads, homemade jams, pickles, fresh eggs and honey are a plenty. The freezers are packed and ready for you to take home dinner for the week or stock-up for the winter.

The Nursery, Matt's domain is a complete line of landscaping and gardening plants grown locally by certified, responsible North Carolina growers for the home gardeners.

The Produce Stand, sourced from area NC farms, boast a wide variety of the best berries, tomatoes, corn, and seasonal vegetables and fruits. If it's in season in NC, then The Produce Stand will most likely have it!

With the three units making The Friendly Market, you won't leave empty-handed!

Top Sellers at Mindy's Baked Goods - Only original recipes and trademarked will be found at The Friendly Market. They include Mindy's famous Friendly Market Tomato Pie, Betty Ballou's Famous Cookies, Market "Crack" Pie, Blue Collard Dip, and Tomato Cheese, plus so much more. Mindy's Baked Goods is always packed with shoppers who are preparing to entertain or just stocking their freezers for future meals.

Blooming at The Nursery - Under Matt's leadership and The Market's latest expansion of the business, The Nursery is blooming with beautiful NC pumpkins and mums. Come see the gorgeous fall colors take bloom to get into a autumn mood.

A little history: When Mindy inherited land just a block from Highway 70 in 2007, she and her husband started a farmers' market on the property. Area growers set up booths to sell fresh produce to the local community and to vacationers headed to the coast.

Mindy set up a booth selling her own baked goods that were based on her mother's recipes and used local produce. Soon the demand for those baked   goods grew, so the couple added a kitchen and store, and eventually a nursery and produce stand.

Whether you're on your way to Atlantic Beach, or heading home, or simply passing through, The Friendly Market is worth a stop. We bet you'll soon be planning a return trip.

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
