What Goes Around Comes Around - Palette & Parlor
Timeless, Classic, Modernists
Most people are surprised, even shocked to learn that North Carolina has the third largest concentration of Modernist houses in America. Who knew we had been sophisticated and talented enough to build Mid-century residential architecture?
Mid-century Modern describes an era of style and design that began roughly in the mid-1940s and continued into the mid-1960s. Its era is noted for the mass-production of household objects, from furniture to clocks to lamps to radios, because many of its chief designers (Charles and Ray Eames foremost among them) made it a requirement that their work be affordable to the average homeowner rather than the wealthy elite.
What goes around, comes around! Palette & Parlor in Chapel Hill has one of the largest collections for some of the best American and European furniture makers that
have stood the test of time, including Knoll, Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son, Kartell, and Vitra, and to offer local NC-made selections from Precedent Furniture, Enkle Designs, and Haand ceramic porcelain.
Quality craftsmanship and originality are the ties that bind the makers to the furniture, art, lighting, and accessories that Palette & Parlor offer. Sustainably designed, authentic, and always distinctive, each piece is thoughtfully selected to help you create meaningful and inspiring surroundings.
Founders & owners, Ivy and John Simon believe Danish and Modern furniture blends beautifully in a variety of interiors. They are entrepreneurs and North Carolina natives who built their business to pair authentic modern design with southern sensibility and a distinctive point of view.
They seek out unique products from newer design talent, like hand-blown glass bubble chandeliers from Brooklyn-based Pelle, and handmade wire outdoor furniture from Los Angeles-based Bend. They'll share where and how each thoughtfully-selected piece was made so you can write your own design story. To Shop online Click Here.

The House will soon be auctioned with AuctionFirst Inc. managing the sale. Bids are being accepted until 3 pm June 29. The top three bidders will be invited to participate in a second round. Individuals seeking information or showings may visit JamesTaylorChildhoodHome.com or 919-601-7339.
