Viva Post Vegas - Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Concert Tour - Three Nights - March 11-13, PNC Arena
Bigger Than Elvis?: Garth Brooks vs Elvis Presley - the parallels are uncanny. Known instantly by their first names, they redefined their respective music genre. Each had ground breaking record sales and attendance (Garth #2 all time in US / Elvis #3 behind the Beatles). After a meteoric career rise, they dropped out of sight, re-birthed in Vegas, and went back on tour to a vastly changed landscape. So can Garth Brooks reclaim his throne from the 1990's? Well, the RBC arena is about to find out during three consecutive night performances on March 11-13. Triangle fans are in for a treat.
Six Albums in Diamond Status: Believe it or not, it has been 25 years since the album " No Fences" was released (17 x platinum). Needless to say, we all found " Friends in Low Places" and probably a pair or two of pointy, cowboy boots. But, it was more than Urban Cowboy horse poop and gunpowder music. It was Garth's exploding, Chris LeDoux show on steroids that captivated a world audience like no other music artist then and now (sorry Taylor, Beyonc, and Adele). Perhaps that is why his " Double Live" album went 21 x platinum. Reviews of his recent tour (with guest artist/wife Trisha Yearwood) confirm that he can still do it fast and furious. And, like Elvis, he still wears big belt buckles - but no big hair and sideburns ... " Blame it all on my roots ...."
Art of Cool & Moogfest - Durham's Music Scene in May
If Raleigh is known for its World of Bluegrass and Hopscotch music festivals, Durham is springing forward with two, alternative music treats - each happening within a couple weeks of each other in May. The third annual Art of Cool festival (May 6 thru 8) intersects jazz, hip-hop, and R&B musicians. Key acts include New Orleans trumpeter Terence Blanchard, Thundercat, and vocalist Anderson Paak.
Moogfest, a cutting edge, electronics festival is moving its site venue this year from Ashville to Durham (May 19 - 22). Named after synthesis pioneer Bob Moog, Moogfest's lineup will include icons like Gary Numan and Laurie Anderson, ODESZA, and Grimes. While each show may attract a different target audience, those willing to cross genres will be introduced to quality performers and workshops.

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
