Inn Season - Home for the Holidays

There's no place like home for the holidays. Unless it's some place else ...close by, with a massive Christmas tree, decorated with four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in the Christmas tree. (Yeah, we'll take that.)

We've gotten the scoop on this year's celebrations at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill. The Inn is currently decorated for the season, and evidence of sugar plum fairies dancing to twelve fiddlers fiddling will make you happy in a million ways.

Now in its eighteenth year, The Carolina Inn will once again celebrate the Christmas season with enchanting decorations inspired by the traditional holiday song, The Twelve Days of Christmas. A vision of seasonal wonder will be displayed throughout the Inn including magnificently decorated trees, beautifully appointed holiday d�cor, and events to keep you and your little one's entertained for the entire month of December!

Cyber Monday - The Carolina Inn even has Cyber Monday covered. (That's today!) Who knew? Gingerbread House Village Display - Tuesday, Dec.1st through Sunday, Jan. 3rd. Relish the festive display of the 13th Annual Gingerbread House Competition. Contestants from Chapel Hill and surrounding areas will showcase their creativity and imagination with their edible masterpieces this Christmas season. Competition was open to amateur and professional bakers alike, with separate categories for youth and adults. Gingerbread houses will be judged by the Crossroads Executive Pastry Chef, Sara Thomas. The winner will be announced on Monday, December 28th.

Make Your Own Gingerbread House - Tuesday, Dec. 22nd @ 2pm. Just in time for Christmas, The Carolina Inn is hosting a children's Gingerbread House Making Class. Join them for a cozy afternoon that begins with a story of Christmas magic. Each child will then be able to assemble and decorate their very own Gingerbread House complete with an apron, chef's hat and all the holiday sweets and goodies that their imaginations can hold. At the end of class, each child will take home a completed Gingerbread House and accessories. Limited seating, ages 5-12, for reservations required click here.

Holiday Afternoon Teas - Dec. 1st through Dec. 31st @ 2pm until 5pm, every day except Christmas Day. Enjoy the festive holiday decorations and music while the Inn's staff serves delightful teas in vintage China cups and saucers, along with an array of savory tea sandwiches, assorted sweets & chocolates. Enjoy a grand finale of warm scones served with fresh lemon curd, English Devonshire cream & jam. Breakfast and Brunch with Santa - Dec. 13th, 19th 20th, 22nd, 23rd & 24th. Breakfast is from 8:30am to10:30am and Brunch from 10:30am to 12:30pm. A festive Carolina Inn Christmas brunch or breakfast will undoubtedly usher in the Christmas magic for young and old alike. Magicians and face painters will be on hand to entertain everyone. Each child is welcome to sit on Santa's lap and share their Christmas wish list. Every child will leave with a holiday treat. Reservations required. Nine Ladies Tapping - Wednesday, Dec. 16th @ 7pm. Come for a lively presentation by Footnotes Tap Ensemble, a professional tap company based in Durham. Reservations Not required.

Celebrate at Crossroads - Come celebrate the holidays at Crossroads, a world class dining experience with an exceptional cuisine made by Executive Chef, James Clark and his culinary team. With authentic Carolina cuisine, handcrafted cocktails and exemplary service in a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere. Give a special Ornament by artist, Elaine O'Neil - The Carolina Inn's doors first opened on December 30, 1924. For more than ninety years, the Inn has created extraordinary memories for its guests, and continues to provide delightful traditions and experiences for all visitors to the Inn.

In celebration of The Carolina Inn's 90th anniversary, local Chapel Hill artist Elaine O'Neil was commissioned to commemorate this occasion. Each stunning ornament is individually hand-painted on hand-blown glass highlighting the history, charm and uniqueness The Carolina Inn offers.
