Toys to Men - Father's Day Ideas

He schooled you on the birds and the bees (boy, was that embarrassing) and footed the bill for your five-year boozefest (a.k.a. ECU, State, UNC, etc). Time to pay Poppa back with something buzz worthy. Whether he's a handyman, a sports guy, or a grill master, we have a little something for any guy celebrating Father's Day this June 21st.

Bourbon-Chocolate Tipsy Cake - If Dad's favorite drink is bourbon, we have a hunch that this will be his new favorite dessert. Even the sauce has a hint of the sipper, simmered with caramel-flavor ice cream topping. Click Here for recipe.

At Videri Chocolate Factory you can treat Dad to a spicy & sweet gift this Father's Day. Each gift pack contains one box of chocolate & nib toffee, one box of Classic Dark chocolate bars, and one bottle of Benny T's Vesta Dry Hot Sauce. This gift pack is available for a limited time.

VIETRI is inspiring the celebration of life with Dad through the joy of handcrafted Italian designs. Chin chin! Drinks to make and the glasses to drink them from; Vietri has just introduced a new glamorous collection of barware. The Elegante Assorted Double Old Fashioned's are painted in 14-karat gold. Featuring a Net, Grid, Lattice, and Swirl design, the collection makes an eclectically elegant mix during cocktail hour. The collection was inspired by Italy's long history in the gold jewelry trade. Vietri website.

Old Fashioned Cocktail - Learn how to make Dad an old fashioned cocktail with this classic recipe. (So easy!)
Ingredients:
2 ounces bourbon (or rye) (If you are looking for gluten-free bourbon try Maker's Mark or Bulleit)
1 1/2 teaspoons simple syrup (*see instructions below)
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters, to taste
ice
1 orange slice
1 maraschino cherry, with stem
Directions:
Combine the bourbon, simple syrup, and bitters in a glass, and stir to combine. Add ice, then add the orange slice and maraschino cherry. Let the drink sit for a few minutes, or give it a little shake to let the flavors of the orange and cherry seep into the bourbon.(*To make simple syrup, simply bring equal parts water and sugar to a boil, and stir until the sugar has dissolved.)

Chin chin...drink and enjoy!

Take the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge

The National Wildlife Federation is joining with dozens of conservation and gardening organizations as well as seed groups to form the National Pollinator Garden Network and launch a new nationwide campaign called the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge.

Designed to accelerate growing efforts across America, the Network is launching the Challenge in support of the alarming decline of pollinators, such as honey bees, native bees and monarch butterflies.

The National Wildlife Federation will work with the Network to rally hundreds of thousands of gardeners, horticultural professionals, schools, and volunteers to help reach a million pollinator gardens by the end of 2016.

You can participate in the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge by turning your yard or garden into a Certified Wildlife Habitat via National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife program.   It's as simple as providing food, water, cover and places to raise young for pollinators like bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Then visit this website to certify your yard.

When you're certify, you'll get a personalized certificate, a special garden flag designating your yard as a Certified Wildlife Habitat and lots more perks. But more importantly, you'll also start attracting beautiful pollinators and get the satisfaction of knowing that you're making a difference.

Learn More - If you're interested in taking the  Million Pollinator Garden Challenge you can learn more about pollinators at Logan's June 13th class on attracting butterflies to your garden at 9 am. Then get all the plants you need right there at Logan's!

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
