Jane Seymour's Art; Medicine to Heal & Inspire ... Cures More than Dr. Quinn, @ The Mahler
Jane Seymour has proven her talents in virtually all media, the Broadway stage, motion pictures and television. Her love of art and color has led to her great success as a painter in watercolors and oils and as a designer. Seymour will be in Raleigh at the Mahler Fine Art Gallery discussing her art on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1. RSVP required. Contact the Mahler at (919) 896-7503.
From early childhood, Jane Seymour has loved drawing, painting, and expressing herself through art. Though, many people know her from her numerous acting roles in films like the James Bond movie Live and Let Die, and Somewhere in Time, which has a cult-like following, and the comedy classic, Wedding Crashers. Seymour also earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards for movies such as Onassis: The Richest Man in the World, East of Eden, the mine-series War and Remembrance and of course, her role as Dr. Quinn on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. But these days, Seymour is just as likely to be probing the depths of her feelings about the world around her as she brings images to life on canvas or sculpting with clay or designing jewelry.
"My art really reflects who I am so some of the paintings are joyous. Some of the paintings are reflective," said Seymour, "Some of them are quite abstract but there is still an element of something that has to do with nature and is discernible and relatable."
The Mahler is a fine art gallery located in downtown Raleigh in the historic renovated Mahler Building. The Mahler is a dynamic venue dedicated to significant art of our time, committed to offering the best in regional and national fine art by emerging and established artists.

Having a Winter Meltdown? - Visit American Meltdown Food Truck
When the weather goes bad, the Triangle goes straight to comfort food... the Grilled Cheese Sandwich. A growing obsession among American foodies, grilled cheese mania has swept the nation. Durham is home to an amazing food culture and the American Meltdown is part of this culinary scene. With the rising food truck trend, a love for street food and the desire to build his own brand, Paul Inserra created the American Meltdown. Grilled Cheese sandwiches gussied up with pesto, pulled pork, or figs garners crowds lined up for lunch, and national awards. With the importance of "location. location. location," the food truck concept follows crowds and develops a following based solely on the merit of how delicious the food is. Inserra, 34, started his venture in post-collegiate limbo, an English major in search of a lucrative path. Once he'd settled on a Durham-based food truck, he considered ramen noodles, dabbled in hot dogs. Then, after a string of informal taste tests, he judged grilled cheese the winner. Shortly afterward, Inserra discovered that these sandwiches served as a perfect blank canvas for an inventive food truck chef. The grilled cheese sandwich offered endless opportunities for improvisation. He could alternate breads, juggling white, wheat, and sourdough. He could insert any cheese he wanted: Havarti, Gouda, manchego. The Kubla Khan sandwich is his smoked pulled pork, Asian coleslaw, Dijon mustard, and provolone. He built the Scarborough Fare sandwich from an herb pesto composed of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. He invented Pigs 'N' Figs, a grilled cheese made with Black Mission figs, speck, local goat cheese, and a dribble of reduced balsamic vinegar on sourdough. Hungry yet? To find out where the American Meltdown Truck is each day, you'll need to visit their calendar on the website or follow them on Twitter.

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
