The Latest Buzz On ...
Fashion, Food and Fun
What the Truck? - Foodies Love These "Nonstraunts" Food Trucks - Sanitary Meals on Wheels?: OK, it's official. A recent study by the Institute for Justice concluded that meals from food trucks are as safe as - or safer than - a sit-down restaurant. That debunks every myth you've ever heard about "roach coaches". A true foodie has moved beyond the B&M (traditional brick & mortar restaurant) and is now on the hunt for these "Nonstraunts" with the funny names. Here are a few locals worth tracking - just log into their websites for daily locations. Chirba Chirba Dumpling Truck - Durham: "Chirba Chirba" literally means "Eat eat!" in Mandarin Chinese when you're speaking to another person. However, the expression also embodies a very warm, hospitable feeling. With freshly made dumplings, amazing sauces, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, you'll be sure to enjoy your time with the Chirba Chirba Dumpling family. Just look for the yellow trucks. Website Baguettaboutit - Chapel Hill & Durham: Forget about hot dog buns, Baguettaboutit's sausages come in a freshly baked French baguette along with your sauce of choice deliciously created from ingredients hand-picked from local farmers markets. Baguettaboutit features six flavors of NC-made sausage, choice of eight hand-crafted sauces as well as a vegetarian selection. Baguettaboutit now has a brick and mortar location in Durham in addition to the food truck. Website Porchetta - Raleigh: Behind the cool orange and brown, grafitti-like farmhouse graphics you will find the Mediterranean sandwich which is their savory, slow-roasted pork with mozzarella, carmelized onions, peppers and aioli. A side of rosemary potatoes completes the meal. Website American Meltdown - Raleigh & the Triangle: American Meltdown is the place to get the best grilled cheese in Raleigh and the Triangle. If you are looking for quality and variety in your melts, then look no further than this food truck. With fresh ingredients and friendly personalities, you're sure to enjoy your time with American Meltdown. Website Stoke & Smoke BBQ - Triangle: Stoke & Smoke is a state of the art mobile barbecue food unit. They've been cooking and serving barbecue in North Carolina for over 20 years. Their meats are hand rubbed with their own special blend of spices and slowly smoked for 12-14 hours with apple and cherry wood to create an exquisite flavor. They also have ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket and chicken. Website Citizen Pops - Triangle: Citizen Pops (from Citizen Yogurt) is home to some of the best frozen yogurt and frozen popsicles in the Triangle area! For example, their handmade popsicles are made with 100% natural ingredients like fresh fruits. They also have a variety of drink options including their bubble tea which can be made over ice or blended like a shake! Website Captain Ponchos Tacos - Triangle: Referred to by many as the "real deal", Captain Ponchos focuses on serving authentic Mexican cuisine. Started in 2009 by the husband and wife team Carolina and Hector Escobar, they proudly serve only the food from old family traditions, and are excited to share that knowledge with the community. The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
