We apologize to this new author for the typo. How ironic to misspell a key word like 'author'...when writing about one.

Paradise Found

True Love Comes Knocking - Raleigh Romance Author Gets Published

The man of your dreams won't appear on your doorstep (unless you have a thing for dudes in FedEx shorts). But that 'mid-day honk' you've been fantasizing about just may sweep you off your feet while reading Michele Summers' new novel, Fine My Way Home.

Find My Way Home debuts it's new release TODAY at Amazon.com, Books-a-Million, and Barnes&Noble. Treat yourself especially if you're a lover of Southern, romantic comedies.

Summers, a romance author enjoys writing snappy dialogue in an unpretentious way with smooth connections that will keep your nose in her books to the very end. Her comical, outlandish settings and situations will have you laughing (LOL)...literally.

We caught up with this Raleigh author for a few Q &A's.

Why do you write romance comedies?

A: It's all about entertainment for me. When I read romance, I want to be entertained and have a good laugh. The real world is always waiting when I finish, so it's nice to escape (if only for a little while) and live out a fantasy or two. I try and write for the same reasons. I mean, come on, show of hands...how many of us wish we were that girl with that guy? Don't leave me hanging... I know you feel the same way.

What is the biggest misconception in being a published author?

A: This has been a long and arduous journey and to paraphrase Maya Angelou, "A lot of hard work goes into a fun read." But the work is only beginning. In today's publishing world, the author spends tons of time promoting their own work...basically pimping themselves out. The more I sell the better my numbers for obvious reasons, but also the more reviews I receive helps boosts my "exposure". And I'm mainly talking about Amazon because, let's face it, Amazon rules the world. (especially in publishing). Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, etc. all sell my book, but Amazon's reviews count the most.

How can we help you out? (That means YOU!)

A: Please buy the book, read it if you want, but if it's not your cup of tea, give it to someone. Or use it to line your bird cage...

Then please leave a review on Amazon. I don't care if it's not 5 stars; the more reviews the better. Reviews show Amazon there's action and action translates into more exposure.

What are you currently working on?

A: I'm currently writing the third book in the Harmony Homecomings series (Sourcebooks Casablanca).

The first one, Find My Way Home releases July 1st! "giddy with happiness"! After reading about Bertie and Keith's funny adventure and attraction, Not So New in Town will follow and release in February 2015. Lucy and Brogan are both coming home with no intentions of staying. And finally, there's Vance and Katie's story and things get complicated and heated as Vance tries to finish his third bestseller and Katie messes with his creative muse. Oh yeah. It's hard to write when you're so distracted...right?

The Right Stuff - Tasty 8's July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest

No Gutsy, No Glory: Last year at Nathan's Annual July 4 Hot Dog Eating Contest, Joey Chestnut downed a world record 69 hot dogs (& buns) in 10 minutes. Doing the math, Chestnut ate 20,010 calories, 1,173 grams of fat and 48,990 miligrams of sodium.  A normal American is not supposed to consume more than 2,000 calories, 200 grams of fat or 2,300 milligrams of salt per day.  But July 4 is not about normal. While Joey may be up in Coney Island, there is another dog food massacre set to occur on Fayetteville Street ... the Tasty 8's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Hot dog eating gladiators will have eight (8) minutes to devour as many classic dogs in a bun as possible.  Come watch the competitive stuffings at 2pm and 7pm on at Tasty 8's hot dog joint (see below).  The gorging will be glorious (or grotesque) and the Cost is Free.

Opening Very Soon: Tasty 8's Gourmet Hot Dog Co. is a new hot dog joint opening at 121 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh in the old Spize Caf spot. Tasty 8's will feature 8 types of dogs, 8 styles of beer, 8 tasty shakes, and fries accompanied by 8 mouthwatering dipping sauces. This good time establishment will celebrate community and offer creative twists on all the American Classics. Order online or stop in for super fast takeout.  For more information, visit their Website or go on their Facebook.

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on
The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of
The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
