Get a Loaf of This - Boulted Bread New to the Triangle
If Boulted Bread's swirling aromas of crusty baguettes and ciabattas pulled from the ovens don't seduce you, then their buttery chocolate or fruit-filled croissants should do the trick.
Boulted Bread serves craft bread and pastries made with heirloom, organic, and locally sourced grains. Partners, Fulton Forde, Sam Kirkpatrick and Joshua Bellamy are baking bread the way it was done during Colonial days and how grandma did it at their newly opened bakery on 614 W South Street in Raleigh's Boylan Heights neighborhood. Currently, they're open Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-7 pm. Once renovations are complete opening hours and days will increase.
What's Bakin? Levain ($6) - A two pound, moist, naturally leavened french country style bread made with stone milled, boulted Red Turkey wheat and Spelt. Delicate tang and heirloom wheat flavor make an excellent keeping bread.
Seeded ($6) - Levain with flax, sesame, and sunflower seeds. This loaf is hearty and full of flavor.
Baguette ($3) - This takes on the classic form made with heirloom Red Turkey wheat flour and toasted corn meal to create a crisp, light, flavorful bread.
Rye ($6) - 100% NC grown heirloom Wren's Abruzzi Rye. A dense Scandinavian style bread using rye that has been grown in NC since colonial times. A rich and meaty flavor on this bread with flax, sesame, and sunflower seeds. Traditionally stored in root cellars, it keeps for weeks wrapped tight and stored in the fridge. Perfect sliced thin with butter and smoked fish.
Ciabatta ($4)- Tangy, buttery, crispy, and fluffy. This loaf is perfect for sandwiches, or just to dip in your favorite olive oil.
How to Buy Bread? Place your order online under their Bread Share Program and choose what day and place you would like to pick up your order. You may pick-up orders on Wednesdays at the shop or at Raleigh City Farmer's Market from 4-7pm, or from the Boulted Bread shop on Fridays from 4-7pm.
But that's not all! There's no pre-ordering required for a variety of delicious pastries! From tart lemon squares topped with fresh blue and blackberries to a variety of croissants, cinnamon rolls, apricot, apple and strawberry pastries and much more. The table displayed with delicious and beautiful baked goods as well as the fantastic aromas coming from the ovens will tempt you to bringing home a box full.

Nutty by Nature - Mackeys Ferry Peanuts
Aw, Nuts...The world can be a scary place. But you can appreciate a snack attack starting with Mackeys Ferry Peanuts on the roasted nut circuit. They are now serving the Triangle and the Outer Banks!
If driving to and from the Outer Banks, you may have seen this place on US 64 and guessed it some tourist trap. You would be somewhat correct, but you really ought to stop and experience the friendly service and taste the many samples. It's worth the stop for the best peanuts, fudge, NC jams and jellies you'll ever taste.
Since 1983, Mackeys Ferry Peanuts has used the best peanuts grown in Eastern North Carolina to create premium peanut products for peanut lovers everywhere. Their century family farm is in Martin County (a county which produces more peanuts than any other county in NC). Mackeys produces some of the best peanut brittle, blister fried peanuts, french fried redskin peanuts, "Flame Thrower" peanuts, Blue ribbon winning Sugar Coated peanuts, Salt and Pepper Peanuts, and a variety of chocolate confections. They cook boiled peanuts from scratch weekly.
Not passing by on US 64? No worries. Mackeys is now peddling their delicious nuts at the Raleigh City Farmers' Market at City Market on Wednesdays from 4-7pm. Stop by and sample the different flavors.
