This Week's New Diversions - Two Designers You Need to Know

Last week you knew there was a big winter storm coming. But you never expected it to strike the Triangle so hard and so fast. This week you're wowed by two new events and diversions, and both happen to take place this Wednesday in Cameron Village.

Take a Stand in Gold - and accept your well-earned glory with a piece from renown, Italian jewelry designer, Marco Bicego who will be making a personal appearance at Bailey's Fine Jewelry in their Cameron Village location this Wednesday, February 19th.

Bicego will be on hand from 11am until 4pm to personally hand-engrave patrons' existing Marco Bicego jewelry or newly purchased Marco Bicego pieces.

Marco Bicego jewelry is inspired by natural Italian surroundings and fuse old world tradition with contemporary design. These timeless and unique pieces are known for impeccable craftsmanship in 18 carat gold. Stunning color variations in gemstones create a sense of customization in each unique piece of Marco Bicego, a line in which no two pieces are alike. His jewelry balances evolution and tradition, emotion with precision and fantasy with technology in order to craft exquisite jewelry that is unique and an everyday luxury.

Find Style That Travels - Before you board that plane, pack your suitcase with getaway-inspired fashions from Babette. Come visit, see her new collection at CT Weekends in Cameron Village with a special Trunk Show this Wednesday, February 19.

Babette is known for her innovative approach to fabric, form, color and texture. She designs unique, versatile, timeless apparel for the modern woman with a global sensibility. If that's not enough to want to see her apparel, we've got one more for you... They're all made in the USA.

The Babette Trunk Show will be from 10am to 6pm. Daniel, a representative from Babette, will be there to show off the June, July & August lines for pre-orders and CT Weekends will offer an additional 10% off discount.

So there you have it, two designer Trunk Shows screaming elegant, ageless, and full of pieces with which you'd like to abscond and wear on a secret trip to Paris or Nice. Our prediction: You won't turn a corner in Cameron Village... just walk a few shops down to visit Bailey's Fine Jewelry and CT Weekends for fashion forward designs of 2014 - and for that we're all the better!

Sneak Peak - Major Bluegrass Acts Coming to Lincoln Theater (Feb & March)

IBMA's 2014 World of Bluegrass Week Returns to Raleigh - September 30 thru October 4:   But why wait?  Raleigh has become the Main Event place for bluegrass music.  If you don't believe it, ask anyone who attended last year's IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass Festival.  We can safely say that Bluegrass today isn't your father's horse sh.t and gun powder music.  It is young, dynamic, and attracting a new generation of talented musicians.  Headlining the Wide Open Bluegrass acts were The Steep Canyon Rangers and The Infamous Stringdusters.  Undoubtedly, they will be back in the fall ... but here's your chance for a sneak peak now.  They (and other marquis pickers) are playing at Lincoln Theatre in February and March.  It's great to see them outdoors in an open venue ... but it is even better to see them live in a small venue.  Check them out below or Click Here for the Lincoln Theatre Band Listing:

Steep Canyon Rangers (with Tonk) - Lincoln Theatre - Saturday, Feb 22:  "True bluegrass,  when done well, is a thing of art and the Steep Canyon Rangers are the genre's current Rembrandt" - the Examiner  (Sept. 2012).  Their new album, "Tell The Ones I Love " showcases the Steep Canyon Rangers' vast talents- nimble instrumental agility, tight harmony vocals, and inventive songwriting. This Grammy Award winning group was renown on its own ... but its collaboration with Steve Martin exposed legions of new fans to the bluegrass genre.  Today, they average about 50 dates a year and host their own Mountain Song festival and Mountain Song at Sea cruise.  Music SampleWebsite

Matrimony (with New Reveille) - Lincoln Theatre - Wednesday, Feb 26:  It's said that a great    band is like a gang or perhaps a family, united by music, sweat, passion, and blood. That is certainly the case with Matrimony, an exhilarating new band whose connections run far deeper than your average combo. Fronted by the husband and wife duo of Ashlee Hardee Brown and Jimmy Brown, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based band are accompanied by Hardee Brown's talented brothers, Jordan and CJ.  "Montibello Drive ", the band's eagerly anticipated debut album, takes its title from the Hardee family abode, a bucolic homestead where multiple generations of friends and family all sang and played together. Randy Rogers Band - Four on the Floor Tour - Lincoln Theatre - Thursday, Feb 27:  Ok, so  Randy Rogers Band is not technically a bluegrass band ... but as Alabama says, "If You're Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)" ... and the Randy Roger Band owns Texas.  The Nashville elite may not have known about the five-piece band, but much of America already did as Rolling Stone magazine ranked them alongside such artists as U2 and the Stones in its 2007 list of Top 10, Must-See Artists. They have recorded four studio albums and two live albums, and have charted seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.  Renowned for their amazing live shows, this act is consistently rated five stars by their loyal fans. The Infamous Stringdusters (with Fruition) - Lincoln Theatre - Thursday, March 13:  Last   year's breakout band at IBMA's Wide Open Bluegrass Festival, The Infamous Stringdusters use bluegrass as inspiration, but consistently move beyond its safe harbors.  Obviously they are doing something right as they have earned critical acclaim, awards, and nominations aplenty.  They also host their own successful music festival and have forged their own record label, High Country Recordings. They sound like no one else, combining virtuosic chops on five traditional bluegrass instruments with an ethos of pushing the genre forward. Music SampleWebsite

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of  The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
