Eclectic Electric - Hopscotch Music Festival 2013 -  Sept. 5 - 7

Hopscotch?  No, not the old-school recess game (like dodge ball).  It's the hottest, multiple-act music Hopscotch Music Festival festival (September 5-7) to annually hit the Triangle.  Patterned after the hugely successful South By Southwest in Austin, TX, the Hopscotch Music Festival features 175 bands in 15 venues over three days with just about every genre imaginable - rock, hip-hop, alt-country, heavy metal, dance, punk, classical, indie & garage rock, noise, drone, folk and more.    All this is happening within a hop, skip, and a jump from one another.  Band Listing & Schedule.

Rock Hop:  Hopscotch Music Festival is located entirely in downtown Raleigh, meaning all 15 Venues are encompassed within a mere 8 block area. The 14 participating club venues include: The Berkeley Cafe, Deep South the Bar, Fletcher Opera Hall, Five Star, The Hive at Busy Bee, Kennedy Theater, Kings Barcade, Lincoln Theatre, The Pour House, Slim's, Memorial Auditorium,  Tir Na Nog, Long View Center, and CAM.  City Plaza is the 15th venue and it heats up on Friday and Saturday nights with headline acts.  Organizers areHopscotch City Plaza  selling wristbands (3 Day VIP - $180; 3 Day - $125; 1-Day Passes - $65; City Plaza Friday $40 and City Plaza Saturday $40).  Click Here for Tickets.

City Plaza Acts:  Of course the headliners always get center stage.  On Friday one of hip-hop's best live performers and creative forces, BIG BOI, headlines a bill that also features Baltimore's party starters FUTURE ISLANDS and Triangle favorites GROSS GHOST.  The Saturday lineup is equally charged with the psychedelic British gospel-rock legend SPIRITUALIZED who shares top billing with THE BREEDERS. The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of  The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
