MooShi - The Cowfish Opens at North Hills Today, April 15
Aren't You Glad That Cows Don't Fly? ... But, how about swim? Udderly absurd! Unless you are talking about The Cowfish, the unconventional Sushi & Burger Bar opening today (April 15) in the CAPTRUST Tower in North Hills Mall. The restaurant serves up sushi and burgers, with equal attention paid to each. In addition, it invented "Burgushi ", a fusion of burgers and sushi that includes rolls created using burger components and sandwiches made with sushi ingredients. Cowfish's first location (Charlotte) opened in 2010 and has developed quite a devotee following. Raleigh was the natural, second location as the executive team has deep roots in Raleigh. Raleigh native Marcus Hall (who owns The Cowfish with Alan Springate) is a graduate of Needham Broughton High and of North Carolina State University.
Bait & Switch: Fresh, innovative and delicious, the sushi segment of the menu is powered by the success of sister company, eeZ Fusion & Sushi. All natural and hearty, the burgers entice with fresh, never frozen ingredients and bold flavors. Spiked hand-spun milkshakes, premium sakes, craft beers, wine and 10oz exotic martinis round out a huge bar menu that is sure to please. There are also scrumptious appetizers for sharing, entree-sized salads, homemade desserts and a fun kid's menu. And, of course, there are the signature "Burgushi" creations. What if you can't make up your mind? Try a bento box to sample a mini-burger along with your choice of sushi roll and three tasty side items! How's that for bait & switch? Menu
Tanked: Born of a desire to create a fun-loving environment that anyone can enjoy, The Cowfish is a come one, come all operation. In the center is a 2,000 gallon fish tank (for looks, only) and the bright red walls are covered with whimsical art. Be on the lookout for the yellow and blue Cowfish mascot. The burger choices (many) include The Hunka, Hunka Burnin' Love, The Green Monster, and the Thundering Herd Bison Burger. The Sushi menu is varied, fresh and artfully prepared. The kids menu has lots of choices, all for $6 or less. Cowfish is open every day for lunch and dinner.
"The" + "IRS" = "Theirs": We don't know why The Cowfish chose to open on tax day, but we hope it brings good luck. Why not indulge by spending a little bit of your refund on a hand-spun Milkshake. If you just wrote a big IRS check, the "007" martini may alleviate the sting. Either way, you will leave happy and vow to make many happy "Returns". Enjoy
The Cowfish: Location: North Hills Mall - CAPTRUST Tower, 4208 Six Forks Road, Suite 100, Raleigh; Hours: Lunch: Daily from 11am-4pm, Dinner: M-Thurs from 4pm-11pm, F & Sat from 4pm-12am, Sunday from 4pm-10pm; Contact: 919-784-0400; Website

The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz.. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of The Beltline Buzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money. We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it. |
