Wherever You Go, There You Are - NC Artists Exhibition Opening Sunday, March 10th
We applaud you for being so laid-back. Nothing gets you going. But getting you to choose anything is like waiting for paint to dry. It's always, "Hmmmmm, I don't care...Wherever."
Which is exactly what the NC Artists Exhibition had in mind. 'Wherever' they live from the coast to the mountains, artists' works were requested for this prestigious show. For 35 years Raleigh Fine Arts Society has organized this exhibition which highlights some of the best NC artists in the state.
Whatever it is ... from paintings, photography, sculptures to mixed media, juror, Bill Dunlap selected great art in making an interesting and exciting show. With close to 500 submissions this exhibit features the best established and emerging artists from across the entire state. The results are as varied in theme as they are in medium.
The exhibition begins at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 10 with the Juror's Lecture and Awards Ceremony in Meymandi Hall at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Following the official opening of the exhibit in the Betty Ray McCain Gallery, guests may leisurely walk through and view this exciting collection of artwork until 5:00 pm. Admission is free.
This year's juror, Bill Dunlap has distinguished himself as an artist, arts commentator and educator during a career that has spanned more than four decades. His paintings, sculpture and constructions are included in many prestigious collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the United States State Department and United States Embassies throughout the world.
Interested in checking it out but not sure you can make it to the big opening? No worries: The exhibit will remain open to the public until May 2, 2013.
Many of the pieces will be available for sale (personal checks only), and Raleigh Fine Arts Society will facilitate the sales. So come prepared to purchase a piece of art that speaks to you.
Price will vary from piece to piece. But cost probably wouldn't faze you anyway. You know... ten cents or a thousand dollars. Hmmmm....Whatever!
