Wherever You Go, There You Are - NC Artists Exhibition Opening Sunday, March 10th

We applaud you for being so laid-back.  Nothing gets you going.  But getting you to choose anything is like waiting for paint to dry.   It's always, "Hmmmmm, I don't care...Wherever."

NC Artists Exhibition Which is exactly what the NC Artists Exhibition had in mind.  'Wherever'  they live from the coast to the mountains, artists' works were requested for this prestigious show.  For 35 years Raleigh Fine Arts Society  has organized this exhibition which highlights some of the best NC artists in the state.

Whatever it is ... from paintings, photography, sculptures to mixed media, juror, Bill Dunlap selected great art in making an interesting and exciting show.  With close to 500 submissions this exhibit features the best established and emerging artists from across the entire state.  The results are as varied in theme as they are in medium.

The exhibition begins at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 10 with the Juror's Lecture and Awards Ceremony in Meymandi Hall at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.  Following the official opening of the exhibit in the Betty Ray NC Artists Exhibition McCain Gallery, guests may leisurely walk through and view this exciting collection of artwork until 5:00 pm.  Admission is free.

This year's juror, Bill Dunlap has distinguished himself as an artist, arts commentator and educator during a career that has spanned more than four decades.  His paintings, sculpture and constructions are included in many prestigious collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the United States State Department and United States Embassies throughout the world.

Interested in checking it out but not sure you can make it to the big opening?  No worries: The exhibit will remain open to the public until May 2, 2013.

Many of the pieces will be available for sale (personal checks only), and Raleigh Fine Arts Society will facilitate the sales.  So come prepared to purchase a piece of art that speaks to you.

Price will vary from piece to piece.  But cost probably wouldn't faze you anyway.  You know... ten cents or a thousand dollars.  Hmmmm....Whatever!

Jumpstart Your Spring Tannins - Leland Little Rare & Fine Wine Auction, March 9

Bottles Up:  No, this is not an infomercial for do-it yourself spray tans.  This is an opportunity to do Leland Little Fine & Rare Wine Auction something for your inner beauty (and satisfaction).  All you have to do is raise your hand.  On Saturday, March 9, Leland Little Auction & Estate Sales, Ltd in historic Hillsborough, NC is hosting the Southeast's largest wine auction with nearly 500 lots of unique and highly collectible wines.  Major wine collections consigned for this auction have traveled from as far away as New York.  Included are 23 lots of Petrus, 36 lots of Chateau Latour and 26 lots of Domaine de la Romanee Conti.  Bidding starts at 1pm and complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served during the auction.  Online Catalogue

Which Category of Wine Enthusiast Are You?  Wine drinkers tend to fall into one of three categories: those who can produce a page of notes from a swirl and sniff, those who stick with tried and trues, and those who'll "have what she's having."  No matter which one you are, find an oenophile pal and don't miss this opportunity (either in person or by taking advantage of online bidding).  Think of it as a new way to wine down without resorting to Two Buck Chuck.  Fine Wine Director, Mark Solomon (Mark@LLAuctions.com) can help with any of your wine bidding or consigning questions.

Rare & Fine Wine Auction DetailsSale Previews: Friday, March 8, 10am - 6pm. Saturday, March 9, 10am - 6pm.  Terms: All sales subject to the terms & conditions of sale. The Beltline Buzz items are selected by our editors.  No one can pay to be featured on The Beltline Buzz..  That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such.  Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of  The Beltline Buzz.  Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way.  So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.

That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors.  You'll recognize them from the subject line: "The Beltline Buzz Dedicated E-mail."  Yes, these are paid for.  And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone.  Not for any amount of money.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz.  We look forward to delivering it.
