HBAG Member Rebate Program

No one likes to leave money on the table. So, what would you think if you could get a rebate for your loyalty to many of the nation's leading product suppliers? Well, now you can! HBAG's Member Rebate Program increases your bottom line. For the minimal effort of informing us about the home construction products you use and when you close on a home or project, you'll be putting money back in your pocket. Both Builder and Remodeler companies, no matter how large or small, qualify for the program, and you are not required to use products from every manufacturer. For more information and to register click here.

Water Resources Reform & Development Act (WRRDA)

President Obama Signs WRRDA into Law

President Obama recently signed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) into law. Most significantly for Georgia, WRRDA authorizes the funding needed to deepen the Savannah Harbor to 47 feet, accommodating the increase in both size and number of ships expected after the Panama Canal's expansion completion in 2015.

The Savannah Harbor Expansion Project has been a top priority for Georgia as it represents one of the most significant economic development projects in the state's history. Georgia has already approved $231 million for its share of the project's funding.  With WRRDA becoming law, the Harbor deepening now advances to the construction phase.
NAHB Envoy Program
NAHB Communication Initiative Program

The NAHB Envoy program is a communication initiative that enlists members like you - NAHB leaders - to help educate all federation members about key issues and the value of NAHB membership. This will help educate all federation members about the wide range of benefits you have as a part of your three-level NAHB membership (local, state, and national) and about the value that NAHB membership brings to your day-to-day business operations.

The NAHB Envoy program engages the federation's most active members, those with the broadest networks who already speak regularly with other members and prospective members. The power of NAHB's grassroots network is what makes our federation great. The more members we engage at the local level, the stronger we will be. Your participation in the NAHB Envoy program will enhance the strength of NAHB.

NAHB will provide Envoys with news and information they can use to communicate with fellow members. We want to make sure members know how to take advantage of the benefits of membership and all the resources available to them.

Learn more or register at www.nahb.org/envoys.

If you have questions about the NAHB Envoy program, please contact NAHB Communications at communications@nahb.org or 800-368-5242, x8583.

Thank you for your service to the NAHB Federation and for your willingness to participate in the NAHB Envoy program!

Request for Grassroots Action
Letter from Jim Tobin, NAHB Senior VP Government Affairs 6/26/2014

Dear HBAG Membership,

Congress is set to begin its Independence Day recess tomorrow, providing our members an opportunity to continue to push for Senate action on housing finance reform. The effective legislative calendar is shortening, so urging immediate Senate action is imperative. I am asking you to call or, most importantly, visit with your senators over the next week to ask him or her to commit to supporting housing finance reform legislation and urge Senate leaders to schedule the bill for floor action. We need to build a buzz around the legislation and create a sense of urgency for action.

The legislation is S. 1217, the Housing Finance Reform and Taxpayer Protection Act of 2014, and was approved by the Senate Banking Committee with bipartisan support in May. S. 1217 took months to negotiate and represents the consensus middle ground for housing finance reform. While there is room to modify the legislation, changes too far to the left or the right will scuttle support for the bill.  Further, I believe 2014 is our last chance to tackle housing finance reform for several years. The upcoming elections will bring new leadership to the Banking Committee and perhaps a new majority to the Senate. The housing market needs certainty in the housing finance system and failure to pass reform this year will prohibit a more robust housing recovery.

Talking points are attached. As you contact your senators, please be sure to ask if they will support S. 1217. We have been asked by the Senate leadership to provide hard numbers for support for the bill.

I appreciate the help on this critical push for action on housing finance reform legislation. Please call or write with any feedback you receive from your conversations. If there is anything I can provide or questions I can answer, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

JIM TOBIN

License Renewal Update
Extended deadline - July 31, 2014

The Secretary of State website was down for several days and this had a large impact on builders trying to renew licenses that were set to expire on June 30, 2014. HBAG worked with Secretary Kemp's General Counsel and pushed for an extension on your behalf. Late fees will not be charged for contractors that renew up until July 31, 2014. The building permit offices, counties, and municipalities were also notified of this extension. PLEASE do not hesitate and get online as soon as possible to renew your professional license.

*Please note that the SOS does not retain your user ID and password from the 2012 renewal period. You must set up a new user ID and password in order to renew your license.
