Dear HBAG Builder Members,
If you have been trying to renew your professional builders license by June 30th and have discovered that the Secretary of State website is down I wanted to let you know that Home Builders Association (HBAG) has worked with Secretary Kemp's General Counsel and pushed for an extension on your behalf. Please see the formal extension letter below. I also want to mention that we asked that the building permit offices be notified of this extension. I have a copy of that letter as well to the Georgia Association of Business Officials, the Association County Commissioners of Georgia, and Georgia Municipal Association to allow you to pull permits until July 31st.
The website is scheduled to be back in operating order on Monday, June 30th. If that is the case, PLEASE do not hesitate and get online as soon as possible to renew your professional license.
Regards,
Kelly Lass

Letter from Secretary of State Brian Kemp:
Dear Kelly:
As you know, the Secretary of State's office computer system was down for several days. I know this has had a large effect on home builders whose licenses expire on June 30th. I want to assure all of your members that we are working around the clock to correct the issue. In light of the technical issues we are facing, we will not charge late fees for contractors that renew up until July 31, 2014. Further, we have let the counties, municipalities, and permitting offices know that licenses should not be treated as expired until July 31, 2014. I apologize for the inconvenience to your members, and I look forward to having this situation resolved. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
Sincerely,
Brian Kemp
