About Us
The Mesa Verde Association is a joint membership program of the Mesa Verde Museum Association and the Mesa Verde Foundation. Your MVA membership supports both of these 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

The Mesa Verde Museum Association (tax ID 84-1404606) provides educational and interpretive material to visitors of Mesa Verde National Park through an active publishing program and the operation of retail bookstores online, in the park, and in Cortez, CO. Our services enhance the visitor experience and promote stewardship of Mesa Verde's world-renowned archeological resources and natural landscapes. Proceeds from all Association operations are donated to the park's interpretive, research, and education programs.

Mesa Verde Foundation (tax ID 84-046967)
funds capital improvements, projects, and
programs for Mesa Verde National Park. Our projects include partial funding for the new Visitor and Research Center at the park's entrance, rehabilitation of the horse facilities at Morefield to support the park's historic horse patrol, funding for important stabilization work at Cliff Palace, and funding of a Lecture Series at Mesa Verde.

Scouting for Mesa Verde Memories
Mesa Verde Visitor, 1929
The Mesa Verde Foundation is looking for stories about favorite memories of your time at Mesa Verde National Park. Tell us about your first glimpse of Cliff Palace; what it felt like to climb down ladders; the majesty of the views; the luminarias reflecting shadows; or perhaps the sounds you heard in the middle of night while camping. We would love for you to email us your story! Stories will be selected and published in upcoming foundation newsletters. The stories can be submitted by anyone of any age. With your written permission to print the story, we will take it from there. Please include a picture of yourself in the park. If you don't have a photograph of yourself at Mesa Verde, consider submitting another photograph of yourself. In turn, if your story is selected, we'll send you a gift as a thank-you and as a reminder of your time in this magical national park.

Please send your stories to info@mesaverdefoundation.org. We'd like to hear from you, and your memory might appear later in print!
Rims to Ruins 2015 Tickets Now On Sale
Far View by David Drummond
Rims to Ruins 2015, an art exhibition and sale of small works, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, 6:00 p.m. at the Kent Denver School in Cherry Hills, Colorado.

The 2015 Rims to Ruins Committee, co-chaired by Mesa Verde Foundation board chair Judith W. Grant and board member Mary Willis, has been working diligently to bring together nationally renowned western painters and sculptors to this year's art exhibition and sale. Approximately twenty-five artists will be represented at the event.

This year marks an important step in broadening the scope of the show! Rather than being limited to Mesa Verde and its environs, artists can paint anywhere within the four states that comprise the Four Corners region. The show promises to be a stunning display of Southwestern art!

Entrance to the art exhibition, sale, and reception is $50 per person. Thirty dollars of the price is tax deductible. If you are interested in more information, would like to make a reservation to this important fundraiser, or would like to make a donation to support Mesa Verde National Park, please call: Margie Deane Gray at 303-321-3120 or email at info@mesaverdefoundation.org.

Contact Margie no later than October 29, 2015, to reserve your place at the event. You can also register on our Facebook page "Mesa Verde Foundation" or on our website at www.mesaverdefoundation.org.  We look forward to seeing you! Your attendance helps preserve the park for future generations.

Interested in being a sponsor for the fundraiser? We'd love to hear from you - we have a number of sponsorship levels with fabulous benefits!
Four Corners Lecture Series Returns to Mesa Verde
The Four Corners Lecture Series continues this summer. This year's theme is "It's About Time," with several of the lectures focusing on the 25th anniversary of the passage of Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The passage of NAGPRA served as a catalyst for a change in relations between the Native American nations, archeologists, museums, and federal agencies. Mesa Verde National Park illustrates those changes on a world stage in which visitors experience the results of more than two decades of consultation.

Thurday, July 30, 7:00 p.m., Far View Lodge at MVNP; Lara Lloyd will speak about "Race, Science, and Burials: The Impacts of NAGPRA on Mesa Verde." Lara works summers as an interpretive ranger at Mesa Verde National Park. She holds degrees from Arizona State University (B.A.) and Northern Arizona University (M.A.) and has worked on archeological projects in the Southwest and Belize. Her research interests include human-environmental relations, exchange, and archeological law. In the winter, Lara teaches in the Cultural Science department at Mesa Community College in Arizona.

Tuesday, August 4, 7:00 p.m., Sunflower Theatre, Cortez; R. Kyle Bocinsky will speak about "Can Pueblo Corn Save Ethiopian Farms? Deploying 1,400 Years of Agricultural Knowledge in Service of the Future."

Wednesday, August 5, 1:30 p.m., Center of Southwest Studies Room 120, Fort Lewis College; Ann Butler will speak about "Bury My Heart at Boot Hill: Death in Southwest Colorado from pre-Hispanic through Victorian Times."

Thursday, August 13, 7:00 p.m., Far View Lodge at MVNP; Lillian Wakeley will speak about "Preponderance of Evidence: the Intersection of Geology, NAGPRA, and Kennewick Man."

Wednesday, August 19, 1:30 p.m., Center of Southwest Studies Room 120, Fort Lewis College; Syl Allred will speak about "Blackjacks and Yellowbellies: Walking in Western Ponderosa Pine Forests."

Thursday, August 20, 7:00 p.m., Crow Canyon Archaeological Center; Chris Rasmussen will speak about "Ecology of Southwest Rivers: Form and Function, Restoration and Resilience."

Saturday, August 22, 2:00 p.m., Edge of the Cedars Museum in Blanding; Sally Cole will speak about "Birds in Ancestral Pueblo Rock Art and Culture."

We hope you'll join us for all of these free programs! The full lecture series schedule can be found here. This lecture series is generously sponsored by Mesa Verde Foundation, Mesa Verde Museum Association, and Mesa Verde National Park, as well as the Anasazi Heritage Center, ARAMARK Parks and Destinations, Bureau of Land Management, Cortez Cultural Center, Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, Fort Lewis College Office of the President, Department of Anthropology, and Center of Southwest Studies, Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society, KSJD Dryland Community Radio and the Sunflower Theatre, and the Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance.

Get Inspired by the Mancos School of the West
StoneHorse by Dian Law
The Mancos Valley, which lies at the foot of Mesa Verde National Park, is home to about two hundred artists and artisans. Many of these artists have combined their talents to establish the Mancos School of the West. Students will have the opportunity to learn right in an artist's studio. Immerse yourself in painting among a watercolorist's brushes, palettes and paints. Study blacksmithing in a blacksmith's shop, among coal forges, gas forges, power hammers and anvils. This special environment will add to students' appreciation and enjoyment of their creative experience. Other classes will be held outdoors in the beautiful Mancos Valley, surrounded by mountains, forests, streams; all within view of Mesa Verde National Park.

Whatever your interest, with the Mancos School of the West you will enjoy workshops in creative settings, taught by skilled and experienced artisans. Don't miss out--sign up for a class today!
