Quick Links
The Mesa Verde Association is a joint membership program of the Mesa Verde Museum Association and the Mesa Verde Foundation. Your MVA membership supports both of these 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

The Mesa Verde Museum Association (tax ID 84-1404606) provides educational and interpretive material to visitors of Mesa Verde National Park through an active publishing program and the operation of retail bookstores online, in the park, and in Cortez, CO. Our services enhance the visitor experience and promote stewardship of Mesa Verde's world-renowned archeological resources and natural landscapes. Proceeds from all Association operations are donated to the park's interpretive, research, and education programs.

The Mesa Verde Foundation (tax ID 84-046967) funds capital improvements, projects, and educational endeavors for Mesa Verde National Park. Our projects include construction of a new Visitor and Research Center near the park's entrance and remodeling the existing Far View Visitor Center into a Tribal Cultures Center to enhance understanding of the connection between the Ancestral Puebloans and contemporary Native American tribes.

Enjoy Mesa Verde This Winter

Mesa Verde has been transformed into a winter wonderland, thanks to recent snows. Come out and play! Free snowshoe loans are available from the ranger information desks at both the Visitor and Research Center and at the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum. Free tours of Spruce Tree House are offered three times a day. Cross-country ski trails are groomed and tracks are set as conditions allow. Learn more about all there is to see and do here this winter at www.nps.gov/meve/planyourvisit

Thanks for Attending Mesa Verde’s Annual Holiday Open House

Over 1,000 intrepid revelers made the trek through wintry conditions to attend the park’s annual holiday open house on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Attendees enjoyed the 3,000 luminarias that lit up fresh snow in the historic headquarters district and lined the Spruce Tree House Trail. Musical performances were provided by the Fort Lewis College Jazz Trio, Meadowlark (a contemporary folk rock group), and the Four Corners Community Band. Free chili and refreshing beverages were generously provided at Spruce Tree Terrace Cafe by ARAMARK-Mesa Verde Company. The bakery at City Market-Cortez donated delicious sugar cookies. MVMA offered in-store specials, and many people made significant progress on their holiday gift shopping as a result.

We thank everyone who braved the brisk weather to help us ring in the holidays, Mesa Verde-style! We also thank the park staff and volunteers who labor tirelessly each year to bring this magical event together. Mark your calendars now for next year’s open house, which will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014.

Mesa Verde--in Denver?

We’re not kidding! No, the spectacular cliff dwellings and mesa-top sites of Mesa Verde haven’t been relocated to Denver. What we’re referring to is the History Colorado Center’s newest exhibition, “Living West,” which opened on November 23 and which includes Mesa Verde artifacts from the Wetherill Collection. Read more about it at this Denver Post article: www.denverpost.com

Happy Holidays from Mesa Verde Foundation

Mesa Verde Foundation wishes all of our members a wonderful and joyous holiday season. We have had a terrific year thanks to you, our loyal and generous members and supporters. Together we have helped with an important stabilization project at the park’s iconic Cliff Palace site. We have helped re-establish the park’s historic horse patrol program, and we have celebrated the opening of the wonderful new Visitor and Research Center at the park’s entrance. None of these things would have been possible with you, our supporters.

Additionally, we held our inaugural Rims to Ruins art event, where 26 acclaimed artists created works inspired by the grandeur and beauty of Mesa Verde during a visit to the park in May. MVF hosted a special exhibition and sale in Denver this past October, which helped raise much needed funding for the foundation and its projects. Plans already are underway for Rims to Ruins 2014.

We thank you for your continued interest and support, and we are looking forward to a busy and productive 2014.

Holiday Greetings from Mesa Verde Museum Association

The Mesa Verde Museum Association wishes you and yours a wonderful holiday season too! We could not accomplish all we do without your steadfast support. Your member dues, donations, and store purchases helped fund all our educational programs and services. You stood by us during the very trying federal government shutdown, and you contacted your elected representatives to advocate for stronger public lands support. We know you’ll be by our sides as we enter another year of inspiring stewardship of Mesa Verde National Park, and for that we are so grateful. Thank you, and happy holidays!

Your Calendar Is In the Mail

Mesa Verde Association members: by now you should have received our special year-end gift to you! Just before Thanksgiving, our Supporter and Sojourner-level members were sent a handy 2014 Peaks, Plateaus, and Canyons pocket calendar. Members at the Interpreter through Mesa Verde Society levels were sent the handsome 2014 Ancient Civilizations wall calendar. Your support of both the Mesa Verde Foundation and Mesa Verde Museum Association through this unique joint membership program is vital to our success. We hope the calendar will remind you every day of how much we and Mesa Verde National Park appreciate you!
