Science team finds the formula for championship success 
Number Sense team, individual students score at state meet

 

The HPHS Science team won its eighth consecutive 4A state championship at the UIL Academic Meet May 22 at the University of Texas at Austin. Individually, Arya McCarthy placed first in the state with the top score in physics and second place in chemistry.  William Lake placed fourth, Khai-Leif Nguyen-Hille placed ninth and Christine Ramjee placed 17th. The team is coached by Wenzen Chuang.



The HPHS Number Sense team took fourth place in the meet. Arya McCarthy (not pictured) finished in 11th place individually. Nathan Kong earned 15th place, Eric Murphy took 21st place, and William Lake finished 25th. The team is coached by Charles Tillerson. 

 
 
In addition, two individual students advanced to compete at the the state meet.
Robert Palmer finished eighth in Current Issues. He is pictured left with coach Krista Kaiser. Tyler Bierschenk finished 11th in Social Studies, and he is pictured right with coach Cynthia Jones.
