Give Input Into Streetscape Design
Tommorrow!
Would you like to give your thoughts about the look of next year's newly constructed South Barstow Street? Join the Design Committee! Members can give their opinions and discuss things like furnishings, lights, planters, landscaping, litter receptacles, and more! The way we design our environment and the way we use it are two of the most important aspects in determining our happiness, quality of life, economic outlook, and showing what we consider important.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 4th at 9:00 a.m. in the North Conference Room of City Hall, 203 S. Farwell. Join in!

Where have the downtown murals gone? The murals that were up for several years on the building at 2 S. Barstow have found a new home in Banbury Place! For the public to enjoy, the murals are now all located on the walls in Building 6, amongst the variety of businesses. The area is now called the Mural Art Gallery.
In 2004, designer and artist Cecelia Cronk thought of the idea to paint murals on the façade of the Barstow building, replacing all of the broken windows. With the help of the City's Redevelopment Authority, RCU, Downtown Eau Claire, Inc., local artists, and others who donated help and supplies, they have been enjoyed by passers-by through the beginning of this year. After the sale of the building at 2 S. Barstow, a Downtown Eau Claire, Inc committee decided to repurpose the murals. With an offer by Patti Cigan of Banbury Place, the murals were given a new life The staff at Banbury have preserved the art with a fresh coat of sealant and a few other touches.
Join us for a ribbon cutting, dedication, and reception while taking a close look at the murals! You might be surprised to see some you didn't notice on the downtown building!
