On Monday, 19th November 2012 at 6.30pm, Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala, patrons of
Cafe Spice Namaste, will be hosting a dinner featuring fine Bordeaux wines to raise funds for Capital Growth, the ground breaking campaign to support 2,012 new community food growing spaces by the end of 2012. The campaign is run by the food charity Sustain, and backed by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The event will include a drinks reception followed by a four-course dinner prepared by Cyrus, with help from his great friend Antonio Carluccio, who has just published his autobiography, A Recipe for Life.
Tickets are £75 per person.
Among the supporters of the event are Bordeaux Wines, Amathus, EastEnd Homes, Foodservice Footprint and a rich variety of friends and suppliers who have generously donated ingredients and products for a menu that includes some typical Cyrus surprises, although game and hand-dived scallops are definitely on the menu. Money raised will be used to help food growing community groups continue their work into 2013. In addition, some of the proceeds will support local schools to 'grow their own' through a new initiative being set up by Cyrus.
Cyrus Todiwala, winner of the Sustainability Champion Award from London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Footprint Award for Environmental Commitment, said, 'Just because we live in an urban area doesn't mean we can't enjoy growing our own food. We hope people will join us, enjoy great food and some terrific Bordeaux wines, and at the same time help Capital Growth with their final push to reach 2,012 food growing spaces in 2012.'
