Prayer As Vast As Heaven

One of God's praying men once said, "The greatest thing anyone can do for God and Man is pray." After seven years of laboring to bring Muslims to Christ and awakening the church to the challenge of Islam, I found that such a task is humongous and bigger than any person or organization, even greater than any networking of ministries aiming at such a lofty goal. The situation took me back 2000 years and I was reminded of those who gathered in the upper room pondering the work they had before them. How were they able to face such a formidable commission? From where would they receive the ability? The answer is that they had a promise of power that could only be received if they waited and persevered in prayer, since only then the promise could be fulfilled. These pioneer Christians remembered well Isaiah's words, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." (Isa. 40:31) Today, the best of us testify to the mounting giant called Islam and find ourselves helpless to face its roar; however, there is nothing greater, more powerful, or even immutable to the value of persistent, persevering prayer. History teaches us that it can change the course of nations, stop the advancement of marching armies, and calm the roar of raging elements. Mountains are conquered, cliffs scaled, rivers crossed, and deserts cultivated when people persevere in prayer. By no means is Islam an exception and it must crumble before the effects of persistent, effectual prayer. For the salvation of Muslims and the awakening of the church we need to tarry before the Lord and persevere in prayer since through it alone we can change the world. In this regard, GNFCW is hosting a monthly prayer meeting for the purpose of seeing Muslims saved and the church awakened to the Great Commission. The meetings will be held in the GNFCW offices at, the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM. Please mark your calendar with these dates: February 12, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, November 1, and December 6.

The greatest privilege offered to man is to carry the burden of the Lord and to share Gethsemane with Him. Will you join us? J.E.

Trip to A Mosque

The conflicting views transmitted by the media concerning Islam and Muslims in the United States have often created what is known as "Islamophobia". This phenomenon has hindered effective witness among Muslims. In order to restore to the church the mandate of evangelizing our new neighbors, a healthy outlook toward Muslims is needed. This can only be accomplished when we really understand who Muslims are through meeting them on their own ground. For this reason, GNFCW is conducting monthly trips to an area mosque. The purpose is for interaction with Muslims and understanding of their beliefs and culture not for interfaith dialogue. This, we believe, will ultimately lead to the breaking down of the fear barrier and restoring a correct view of Muslims that may lead afterward to active witness.

The capacity for every trip is twelve persons. GNFCW has already planned two trips for the months of February and April, which are already filled. If you have an interest in participating in one of these trips in the coming months, please let us know by calling us at 817-275-3413 or by email at [email protected] so we can reserve a place for you.

We are looking forward hearing from you. J.E.
